Check in and out was easy. Extremely wonderful communication with the host. The loft was very clean but a few things need to be addressed that I saw others complain of as well. The bed in the one bedroom is not comfortable. One side of the bed sinks down and the other side is higher up and harder. You wake up with a stiff neck and back. The bathroom that is attached to that same bedroom, the sink drains extremely slow and gets backed up. Apartment above was loud both nights for a few hours between 11-2 am. The couch downstairs in livingroom sinks back some when sitting. Osrking garage 2 min walk and was very helpful and not expensive. Overall an ok stay.

We were in Ohio for our granddaughters graduation. It was a quick trip up but we wished we could have stayed longer. The house was exactly what we needed! It is a beautiful property that is beautifully appointed. It was exactly what we needed!!

Sisterly Convention

The location was perfect to the convention center. While the place was visibly clean there were some issues. It didnā€™t quite look like the pictures. The sinks didnā€™t drain the water from the upstairs bathroom leaked downstairs. Maintenance said someone showered w/out putting the liner in the tub, which wasnā€™t true, because we had no hot water since Friday morning. We were unable to shower before meetings on Saturday. Saturday night when the shower was on it leaked through the ceiling again.Last, Sunday morning I wanted to toast a bagel only to find the oven dirty . It appeared as though something had spilled over.. we sent several emails to Mainstay.

Great location, terrible check in

After driving for several hours, the check-in was terrible. The front lock didn't open; a resident of the building had to let us in. They also confirmed that there have been issues with the lock box. Once we got to the room, we couldn't open the door as the instructions were not correct. After a few calls, we did get in. We also were instructed to get the other key fob from the other door, but the code was wrong to get into the lock box. Another call. The apartment was not very clean; the vents where filthy.The kitchen was not equipped at all for 4 people; there was not enough silverware or plates. Luckily, we had brought our own. It is a warehouse, and noise is an issue. The location was good; it is great for walking to museums and a couple of good restaurants just a few blocks away. There is a great parking garage across the street.

As Advertised

Nice apartment within a larger old building. Perfect for our evening out. We did dinner at Rappahannock (2 blocks away) and a show at The National (5 or 6 blocks). And best part was the walk up pizza place across the street. We got a couple slices at 12:30 am on the way back home. No issues with this place.

Needed a 2 bedroom 2 bath, pet friendly with full kitchen for Christmas festivities with our son & his gf. Worked out well for us. A bit tricky understanding fob, key, lock box, parking but called and property manager picked up right away and was quite helpful.

An OK Place in Heart of the City

Spent 4 nights. Was leary of the location ... did not feel safe walking out on my own. Unit was fairly clean. Unit was dark. Only had one outside window in a bedroom .. blinds no work so could not let light in. Kitchen spigot sprayed everywhere. Personal impression is the place is in need of some updates/TLC. Outside door fob sometimes worked & sometimes did not ... made host aware, but half the time the door did not latch so anyone could walk in & sign on door advised do not pull door shut. Beds were hard, previous tennant dirty towel found in dresser drawer (left it there). Upstairs tennants were loud .. walking around @ night with noisy fighting.

Pictures Are Misleading

My friends and I stayed for 1 night while we were in town for a comedy show. The best part of this unit is the responsiveness of the hosts. They responded to me within minutes to any of my concerns. Also, the space is very clean. Upon walking into the building, we were instantly struck by the strong odor of marijuana. The instructions given by the hosts are outdated (they said we needed to put in a pin at the front door to get a key fob, but that was not true). The unit itself has no windows that open to the outside. The pictures on the listing shows that the space is bright and well lit when in fact, it is extremely dark without any natural lighting. The kitchen sink was broken and the kitchen trash can was broken. In the middle of the night (between 3-6 am), we heard the neighbors very loudly having conversations. It felt claustrophobic and uncomfortable. I cannot recommend this place.

More like an extended stay hotel

The unit was not only roomy, but also impeccably clean, and decorated with a nice touch. It was located in a great location in downtown Richmond. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the inefficient check-in process. We found ourselvesan alternative unit on the morning of our scheduled arrival. The online check-inly failed to process my payment, despite multiple attempts scrambling for system repeated. The unit is an apartment building, and access is through a security door facing the street using a FOB. The FOB works intermittently. When it does not work, you wait for another tenant to enter the door or go around the block to the back door entrance. It is corporately owned rather than owned by a private investor. Our usual VRBO rentals with private owners are treated more like hosts and have welcome touches, such as a bottle of wine and, most often, coffee and tea offerings. If the renters need is to simply stay in a unit that is more hotel like, this will fit the bill. It is a nice unit in a nice location. I am confident the company can correct the FOB problem. Perhaps the payment processing was also not typical.

Centrally located Flat

The flat was centrally located. It was a unique two story build out in an old building. We were greeted at the foyer by a Colo-guard box but it wasnā€™t really in the way as we dragged our luggage down the. Crazy long hallway in the first floor to our room. The two bedrooms are in second floor and each have a bathroom, one is en-suite. This one has to windows to outside which makes it a bit dark. The second bedroom was nice and had a small window through which I could hear loud thumping music for 2 hours just below as someone had parked there and was partying in their car despite it being private property. The kitchen was large enough to cook a good meal for friends or family but there wasnā€™t really enough kitchen ware to do that. We liked the centrality of the place even if the area was strangely quiet on a gorgeous Saturday in early June.

Not the best experience

When we arrived I realized I never got any information on how to check in. I sent a message on the app and waited 10 minutes. Once I didnā€™t get a response I then called the host twice before making contact. I was told that I was sent the email and to check my junk folder. I had already searched all folders before reaching out. I never got the email beforehand. Then I was told that if I was checking in after 4 I was supposed to let them know ahead of time. Which was on the email so therefore I had no idea. For contactless check in Iā€™ve never had to let a place know when Iā€™d be there. I was quite frustrated at this point. Then the walls are so thin that I had to listen to a drunk man scream and bang on the apartment door next to us for 2 hours before calling the non emergency number to come deal with the situation at 4am. I got 3 hours of sleep the entire night. I get that the other situation was not their fault but it just added to the frustration because I didnā€™t realize Iā€™d hear literally everything through the walls.

Great Location

The property overall was fine. Had enough room for us and another couple. Great location, on a quiet street, in the middle of everything. Lots of good restaurants and bars. The hallway had a bad animal smell that thankfully didnā€™t creep in the condo but the condo itself had a weird smell, that never went away. The walls are tissue paper thin. Be prepared!!!! We could hear people next door and above us. Trickling water through the pipes and walls all night. Make sure you bring everything you need!! Would stay again!!

This property would have been perfect but beware it was so dusty. I had to pop allergy pills twice a day. My friend who stayed with me had to use her inhaler. This property looks really nice and seems clean but it was so dirty. All of the carpets in every room needed a severe deep cleaning I wouldā€™ve just preferred to have no area rugs anywhere because they just looked so dingy. Iā€™m not sure what cleaning service theyā€™re using, but I donā€™t think they vacuum or dust when they go in there. Itā€™s otherwise a nice space but I would never book it again.
