Opt out of the noise and escape to At The River—a boutique riverside nature retreat just 1.5 hours west of Edmonton. This stunning cabin sits only 30 metres from the river where you enjoy a quiet, exclusive spot and private access to the Freeman River with a stone-and-pebble shoreline and sandy island. Spend your days relaxing by the river surrounded by 100 acres of breath-taking private nature sanctuary, abundant wildlife, and star-filled skies. Fishing lakes are just minutes away. Firewood included!

Wake up to the sound of the river, birdsong, and the wind moving through the trees. Beyond the river, explore forest trails, wetlands, scenic viewpoints, and abundant wildlife. Deer, beavers, bald eagles, owls, and countless songbirds are common visitors, while moose, bears, coyotes, cougars and other native wildlife also call this sanctuary home.

Spend your days floating the current, exploring the shoreline, or simply relaxing by the water. As evening falls, gather around the riverside campfire and soak in the golden sunset before a sky full of stars and if you're lucky, northern lights.

The cozy cabin comfortably sleeps up to four adults and features one king bedroom, one queen bedroom, a fireplace, propane stove, and a private outdoor washhouse with a hot shower, sink, and toilet. 2 toddler mattress are available upon request. Although our family home is located approximately 300 metres away on the hill, the cabin enjoys its own peaceful riverside setting immersed in nature.

Explore the Area

While the sanctuary offers plenty to explore, you'll also find several local gems just a short drive away.

Schuman Lake (10 minutes) – A peaceful, crystal-clear lake perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, and rainbow trout fishing. With only non-motorized watercraft permitted, it's one of the area's most tranquil destinations.

Goose Lake (15 minutes) – Enjoy a sandy beach, boating, swimming, walking trails, picnic areas, and excellent fishing opportunities for northern pike and yellow perch.

Wild Violet Acres (15 minutes) – Browse a charming organic farm store featuring fresh produce, homemade bread, local meats, artisan foods, and specialty groceries.

Gems Café & Bistro (10 minutes) – Enjoy fresh, locally inspired meals at one of the area's favourite cafés.

Fort Assiniboine (10 minutes) – Convenience store, liquor store, and fuel just minutes away.

Our hosts were amazing, they made sure that we had everything we needed as well as we’re very friendly. We stayed here for our wedding and it was the perfect little getaway. I love how close it is to the river, even though it was quite cold and raining. It was nice to sit by it and watch it. We brought along our fuzzy companion as well and he loved every minute. I highly recommend staying at this property if you want a scenic quiet getaway. Host are amazing. House is so cute and the newly added shower house is so cozy.

What a gem! This cabin was pretty special. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the river (even went for a dip in the river)! The whole area is beautiful and nice to explore. Visited some beautiful nearby lakes for a swim as well. The cabin is cozy and has pretty much everything you'll need. We also loved the Wash House. It was very clean and well kept. Shower was great!! Even though this is a new listing, we could tell that the owners take a lot of pride in their cabin and making guests stay as comfortable as possible. They continue to tweak and improve amenities to build on the guest experience. We will be back!!! Thank you Christiane and Bali.
