The overwhelming use of air fresheners gave us horrible headaches and allergy attacks. The air was so perfumed it was unbelievable. Carpets were stained and there was barely enough room to move. The staff were quite professional and helpful, and the location great, but the amenities made it a poor choice. The photos made the room look far better than it was. I never leave bad reviews, but this was over the top.

Hotel very dirty and unclean for guests to stay in. No mattress protector is used which should be standard in any hotel; bloodstains were on our mattress which I took a picture of as well as the very dirty and stained carpet. None of the rooms had any mattress protector under the sheets which meant all bodily fluids of previous guests could just soak into it. I wore shoes in the room as it was so dirty. Took a picture of the stained and unprotected mattress as well as very dirty stained carpet. Very small unclean rooms. Hotel staff showed us more dirty rooms with more stained mattresses and carpet as options to move to. We asked for a refund on our remaining days as we wanted to check out and move to a place that actually felt comfortable to stay in and not a place that felt disgusting to sit in. Although we were on our honeymoon, hotel tried to keep payment for all nights even though we did not complete stay and they were unable to provide a resolution to the cleanliness issue.

The hotel staff was exceptional—professional, welcoming, and very accommodating. Shortly after we booked through Expedia, the hotel reached out to offer transportation services. For a fee, they arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport and later return us for our departure. It was seamless and well-organized. Our flight arrived early in the morning, and although check-in wasn't until after 2 PM, the staff welcomed us warmly. We completed the paperwork, dropped off our luggage, and were able to freshen up using the lobby facilities. When we returned later, our bags were already in the room, and all we had to do was pick up the key. The hotel has a grand, old-world classic charm that makes a strong first impression. We booked a small, standard room—which is exactly what we got. It was clean but a bit worn; the carpet had some stains, the mattress was firm, and the pillows were quite flat. While the room could use some updating, the service and overall experience made up for it. The location is excellent, with several bars and restaurants just steps away, and only a two/three-minute walk to Piazza del Popolo with plenty of high-end shopping. It’s slightly farther from some other major attractions, but still very manageable. I’d definitely stay here again.

The staff were truly top notch, super helpful, positive and kind. Gave great restaurant recommendations and were helpful with transportation. The room was well appointed and spacious except for the space around the bed. Breakfast was lovely and generous with again great staff. Location was stellar for easy walkability and public transportation. The only downfalls I’d say for the junior duplex, I wasn’t aware it was on the first floor (loud street noise at night/morning) or connected to a quite pretty courtyard on the interior side, but we felt like we could never use it as it was often saturated with smokers/smoke. The room was on the warm side too but the thermostat didn’t seem to work, and we couldn’t open the window often because of smokers right below our balcony. I would definitely come back here if I could get a room on a higher floor. Positives far outweighed the negatives

My wife and I had an excellent stay at River Palace Hotel! The room was so quaint and lended itself well to the city’s atmosphere. The service was fantastic, the room was clean and linens were changed daily! The breakfast was delicious and had many options. The hotel is just a short walk away from a host of dinner options. Be careful, the minibar items are quite expensive!
