Really neat cabin in the woods with secluded feel. We rented all three of the cabins for my family for our wedding at the adjacent Horsehear Lake Lodge. These cabins are really unique and a neat experience. They were clean and the AC ran great even with nearly 100 degree temps outside.
My wife and I brought our 5 year old golden to the property. I knew the scenery would be beautiful and the cabin would be comfortable and modern. But pictures can show the best of a place and leave out any potential drawbacks. I was really surprised by how much privacy we had and how a lot of the features that I thought would be communal werenât. We had a tower all to ourselves overlooking Horsehead Lake and the mountains behind it. There was a screened sitting area to enjoy the outdoors and keep the bugs away. A very nice shaded dog pen, a gas grill, and an amazing fire pit (bugs werenât even an issue!)The cabin, though small, is more than enough room for a couple or even a family of 4. We never felt like we didnât have enough space. On top of that, the owner had literally thought of everything. At first I couldnât get the tv to work, I was able to swap batteries with another remote and I was in business. The next morning I noticed, there were boxes of extra AA and AAA batteries. There was a dog bed, bowl, treats, and even dog food if you forgot to pack some. Before we arrived, we told the owner what we were looking for and he made a recommendation for where we could take our dog. She absolutely loved the Mulberry River. We have stayed at several VRBOs but this oneâs unmatched beauty, activities nearby, and proximity to Dallas (5 hour drive) make it the most likely for us to return to often.
The perfect getaway for family or just you and your spouse! Worried about leaving your dog? Bring it! They provide dog bed, bowls, and a safe outdoor kennel! Spend your morning overlooking the mountains from the tower and your evenings in the gazebo! Great hiking is within a hour drive like Glory Hole or Hawksbill Craig! Loved, loved, loved our stay!
The property was beautiful and it was exactly as described. We enjoyed the fire table in the gazebo on a couple chilly nights and loved looking out over the lake from the top of the viewing tower. I really appreciated the well stocked kitchen. This place is great for just a couple to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere or it would be fun to get together with friends and family here as there are multiple outdoor spaces for gathering. Overall the cabin is amazing and look forward to another visit!
We absolutely loved our stay at Roxy Ridge. We got to meet Robbie and he is a gem. My husband, 2 daughters and I stayed for 4 nights as part of our spring break. Everything was perfectly clean and we had everything we needed for our stay. It was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. also there was so much to do. We hiked, kayaked, played games, and explored all over the property. Thereâs a small waterfall just up the road. The lake is so beautiful. We loved the treehouse patio that was recently put in. The view was gorgeous. We grilled every night. Walmart is a short 20 minute drive away for us to get all the groceries we needed. We took a short drive to Mulberry River and just loved it. The washer and dryer was a nice bonus. The best part was being able to bring our dogs. They loved staying here too. Thank you so much, Robbie. We will be back!
The cabin was quaint and more luxurious than anticipated. The amenities exceeded our expectations and we canât wait to return, any season of the year!
This was our 2nd Thanksgiving at this cabin. We had such a great time the first year, we were so happy to be able to stay this year. The new look out tower was an awesome surprise when we arrived!
This is not the first or second time Iâve stayed at this property. Robbie and his family make this feel like home. Always a 5 star experience and the communication is always great as well with any questions we may have. The views from this cabin are incredible and the fireplace in the living area makes the stay even better! We will be back!
We stayed here during a family memberâs wedding weekend at the event center down the road. It was the perfect place for us to be in the mix, but able to have our own space too. The cabin had everything we needed and we really enjoyed the outdoor sitting areas. Definitely a great spot for a quiet escape!
This cabin was the perfect little getaway. It was very well stocked and very well throughout.
We enjoyed a weekend in this adorable cabin with with lots of extras. Very quiet location. Very impressed with how well It was stocked. I feel like it was very well thought out!
We came for a family long weekend. Ended up snowed in for an extra day. The cabin and property are everything listed and beautiful. The host is the most gracious and helpful host we have ever experienced. He was so helpful with the snow, came and brought sleds for the kids to enjoy. It was a +5 experience. We will most definitely be back and recommend highly.
We enjoyed how peaceful, private, and dog friendly the property was.
However, unfortunately, by the third day my husband was covered in dozens of bug bites that went him from his shoulders to his toes (three weeks later his ankles and legs are still covered in scabs). Despite following the signs, we never had luck finding the dock with the kayaks and canoes either.
Overall, the cabin itself was a great size and had the amenities we needed for a family of three with lots of space to explore.
We stayed in the cabin for an event at the lodge and that cabin was the most perfect escape from the madness that comes with large weddings. A cup of coffee on that balcony in the mornings and a quiet moment star gazing at night were exactly what we needed. Also, the bed is so comfy!! Also also, this is the most well equipped STR kitchen I have ever seen. I was most definitely impressed.
We came for the first time last June (2022) and enjoyed our visit so much we came back again for our vacation this June 2023. This is a nice, well kept property. It is just the right size for a couple with 1-2 dogs. We brought our dog Maggie and she loves it here! Maggie is a 70 pound Husky Shepherd. The kitchen is well stocked with all you need for a week's stay if you plan to do your own cooking. There is a nice grill and fire pit with wood we used some evenings as well. Located on a lake, we went swimming down in the swimming area some evenings, and I took a kayak out on the lake as well. Excellent fast communication with property owner/manager (who is on site, which is big plus).
Couldnât have been happier with our stay. Everything was in perfect order and every little detail considered. For me and my dog, it was the last stop on a 2-week cross country road trip and we both had the most relaxing and lovely time. Highly recommend everything about Robbieâs setup and hope to be back for a future visit. Beautiful area right on lake; while it is a bit of a drive to some of the areaâs best hiking spots it is a beautiful drive so we didnât mind.
