Great house. Super unique but very comfortable and lots of different spaces to sit and enjoy. Clean and in a safe neighborhood. Host was super responsive.
We enjoyed our Christmas stay with family. Adult kids loved the pool table. We had to use the coffee table for dining b/c it was cold, windy and rainy outside where the only dining table was. The bedrooms were comfortable, the shower had good water pressure and there was a good supply of toiletries.
What a treat to stay at a part of Californiaâs architectural history! This house is unusual and very nicely kept up. Clearly significant old houses are a labor of love for these hosts. Family was visiting us (we live nearby in a house too small to host) from Canada over what turned out to be a very soggy holiday week. But this house with its radiant heat floors and working gas fireplace is warm and comfortable. We loved that it was decorated for the holidays -even a tree! The pool is not heated but works great as a cold dip with the steam room so the brave guest should definitely pack a suit even in winter. This will be my go-to âextra homeâ for guests going forward.
We made a full on steak dinner for my motherâs 95 birthday celebration. The kitchen was well equipped for this event. My only sadness is the lack of a dining room table. If the weather had been good, weâd have eaten outside. Loved the radiant heat floors! Loved the fireplace! Loved the neighborhood!
We had stayed there before and obviously liked it very much since we returned. Separate living areas were perfect for our family gathering. It is a unique property; very charming.
We had a lovely stay. Booked for the weekend of the Urban Cow Half Marathon. Convenient walking distance from the race start. Incredible to be able to walk home and take a dip in the pool and use the steam room. Coffee at Chocolate Fish, Marie's Donuts, and the newly opened Stepdad's all a few steps away. The home itself was very thoughtfully appointed and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!
The house is very charming. It is as it appears on the website. The wood and vintage touches were very artful and enjoyable. The main house was easy and comfortable. The pool is very nice and easy for all to use. The back two rooms were very nice, well appointed and very comfortable. This a an architecturally special home and we loved it. The hosts were very easy and home instructions perfect.A great walking neighborhood and the access to Land Park and the downtown area is perfect. We hope to stay here again.
This house is so cute!! It has an amazing courtyard with a pool and lovely garden. The house itself is quirky and has fun items everywhere you turn. I highly recommend staying.
What a wonderful and beautiful home. Reading the history of it and who built it was wonderful. Inside the home has the moat amazing things including from Folsom prison. The house had everything we needed for the weekend were we didnt have to leave unless we choose to. Would definitely stay here again
We loved the charm and uniqueness of the hobbit houseâŠ.So fun and magical! Loved hanging in the backyard at the pool and especially eating all our meals outside on the patio and covered patio at night. Highly recommend! OhâŠ.playing pool with family was a blast!
The house was exactly as pictured. Beautiful home, well kept. We enjoyed the pool it was very relaxing. There were also a ton of toys that my kids really enjoyed playing with. Tons of space for the kiddos to play. Loved the coffee table books on the architect.
Quiet! Unique property located near good neighborhood restaurants. Much larger than it looks from the outside. Somewhat like having two homes on one property with back bedrooms separated from main house unit.
Everyone loved our stay at the Storybook Home! It was such a unique experience! We would like to stay again sometime in warmer weather to more fully enjoy the fabulous outdoor apace. The owners are very kind and were quite helpful during our stay.
