I didn’t actually make it past the lobby. I searched online for a room and finally “found” a room at this hotel. Thankfully , I put it on my credit card. Much easier to contest.
I had to drive over 30 minutes to get there and then had to wait in line to check in. When I finally get to the front of the line, I mysteriously don’t have a room that I’d already paid for. . The nice, but newer, employee ended up calling his manager. They “over booked. Every room was full. Give her a refund and help her find somewhere else.” 😡
I ended up driving an hour out of the way (30+ minutes each way), spending over a hundred dollars more for a crappy room, and missing dinner. If I have to pay to cancel at late notice, why don’t they?
I ended up standing the lobby over an hour trying to find a room at a different hotel and then getting my money back from Expedia. Expedia had to call the front desk to get an ok to give me a full refund, since it wasn’t in the “cancellation window.” If this happens to you, don’t expect the refund like my new guy said I had. According to him, I was refunded and my balance was zero, but the credit didn’t show up until an hour on the phone.
After all that mess and phone calls and waiting, someone arrived and checked in. 😡😡😡 I had been told there were no rooms.
Maybe if you plan to visit when no one else is there, you might get a room and see if it’s clean and the breakfast is decent. I never got the chance.
