A week in Ile de Re St.Marten de Re

Perfect perfect perfect. A magnificent two bedroom apartment with a spectacular private walled garden in the fortified city. The apartment is a gem and the location is unbelievable, steps to the port, to the charming old city, great restaurants and charming shops.

Saint Martin

Loved the property and its closeness to the centre of Saint Martin. Nice little chill out area at the back. Just right for the 2 of us and our dog. One problem however was that we ran out of Bandwidth on the WiFi so lost out on Netflix and some of the internet for a few days. Apart from that we were very happy with the accommodation.

The property was as described and as commented upon by other customers. Could not find fault. A shower enclosure would have been better but the hand held shower was fine ; especially with a helper. The restaurants in Saint Martin were very expensive and of poor quality . We went to Ars and Les Pontes and had very good meals at half the price of Saint Martin and La Flotte and much , much higher quality. Bikes and bike routes were excellent and well sign posted.. A very good holiday. Jacky and Arlette were welcoming and available. A memorable holiday.

Ideal home away from home

We are just back from a fabulous stay in this apartment. It was our first time abroad with our 20 month old so we were a little anxious that the set up would work for him. It turns out we chose the perfect apartment in the perfect location. Jacky sent an email to us offering to collect us and bring us to the airport as well as provide extra linen, towels etc for 60 euro. We availed of this because the idea of organising taxi with all our luggage, pram and baby was stressing me out. He collected us from the airport. He was lovely, very warm and friendly. This extra offer was worth every penny. When we arrived at the apartment it was spotless. The decor is really lovely and makes the apartment very homely . They provide plenty of everything from pots and pans and cups and plates. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, hob and microwave as well as a coffee machine. It was the little things that are not always provided that really helped like shopping bags, pegs, detergent and more that made our arrival easier. He even provided a bucket and spade for the baby. Everything was working really well. There is plenty of space too and lots of storage. The windows have shutters which were great for blackout for baby and the travel cot was great with extra linen provided. The shutter also kept the apartment cool because the weather was very hot. In the back garden there was a big awning that kept us in the shade at meal times. The location is amazing too. The bike shop is at the end of the street ( 1 min away) so we hired bikes for the two weeks from there. We cycled to a different beach every day. Saint Martin is literally 2 mins walk away. There is a market in the mornings so we would get nice food there. The supermarket is a 10 min cycle away although there is a small one in Saint Martin. Plenty of lovely restaurants too. Every evening we got ice cream and sat watching the activity in the port. There is a park just across the road with a small playground and amusements. The tourist office is right beside that and a courtesy bus that brings you to other parts and the bus leaves from there every hour or so. It will bring you to the main bus stop Cognac Jay which has a bus going to the north side of the island or to Rochelle. We did a trip on bus to the other end of the island one day and a trip to the aquarium in La Rochelle on another day. €2.50 to LaRochelle and 1 euro to the north island. This really was the perfect holiday for us . Thanks to Jacky

Comfortable, centrally located, smart ground floor apartment.

We had a lovely early June holiday. The apartment has 2 double bedrooms which are smartly and tastefully decorated in a seaside theme. The lounge kitchen is a good size but compact if you need to dine inside. The courtyard garden was great for lunch and early, evening dinners. The galley kitchen worked fine but you needed to plan well to make the best of it. For our family of 2 adults and one young teenager it was perfect. Centrally, located in St Martin and everything was easily accessed by bicycle. Supermarkets are 10-12 minutes away by bike and you can walk to the restaurants in 5 minutes. St Martin is a beautiful sailing port and the "centre" of the island. Other great villages such as La Flotte and La Courade are just 15 and 20 minutes away respectively by bike. The two boys managed to cycle to Les Portes in 65 minutes to glimpse the other end of the island. Lots of fun for the active family. The surfing beach of Plage de Gros Jonc was a steady 25 minute cycle. Jacky the owner helped us immensely with our late arrival into La Rochelle airport. Despite the late time of our arrival he facilitated the letting fantastically. What a fantastic host.

Het huisje was prima gelegen! Goed comfort en leuk domein. Haven en centrum met talrijke restaurants in de directe omgeving. De garage onder het domein was goed om hebben maar wel erg smal. Toch een echte aanrader!

Joli appartement dans un endroit très calme et central

L'acceuil par M. Bertrand était chaleureux, toute la communication était rapide et instructive - parfait. L'appartement est situé excellent, *totalement* calme, mais seulement quelques pas du port et du centre-ville - formidable! L'appartement est assez confortable, même si le salon/salle à manger/cuisine combiné n'est pas très grand. Pour 2 personnes, c'est correct, pour plus, ce n'est vraiment suffisant que pendant les étés chauds. De plus, la porte d'entrée se trouve juste à côté de la cuisine et il n'y a guère de place pour les chaussures ou les vestes près de la porte. La terrasse est très grande et on peut bien s'y asseoir au soleil. L'aménagement est fait avec amour, moderne et en très bon état, même la salle de bain! La machine à laver et le lave-vaisselle sont en très bon état. Les commentaires sur l'étroitesse du garage sont partiellement valables: avec une grosse voiture, c'est un peu difficile, mais avec une voiture de la taille d'une Peugeot 208 etc., ce n'est pas du tout un problème si on sait conduire. En résumé: je réserverais à nouveau cet appartement!

Beste Lage, ruhig, hervorragende Ausstattung

Die Ferienwohnung mit 2 separaten Schlafzimmern, schönem Bad und extra WC war die perfekte Ausgangslage, um den hübschen Ort und die Insel per Fahrrad zu erkunden. Take away Pizza für Teenager in 5 Minuten erreichbar. Für die Eltern bietet der Markt Meeresfrüchte, Käse, Obst etc. vom Feinsten. Sehr freundlicher Gastgeber.

Bonne, sauf le box pour la voiture qui est trop petit. J’ai esquinté mon véhicule, puis j’ai passé le reste de la semaine sur le parking payant à 32€ la journée…

Vacances en appartement au calme

Très bonne semaine de vacance chez Jacky. Un accueil chaleureux, une description minutieuse de l’appartement. L’appartement est propre, calme et rien ne manque. Le jardin et surtout le parking sont des atouts incontestables. Le tout est situé très proche du port et des commerces. Une belle découverte !
