salvo sandbox satisfaction

The Salvo Sandbox was just perfect for our family!! We enjoyed the location
the house was spacious enough for the 7 of us, lots of outside spaces to enjoy! Our golden retrievers loved their first vacation too! Easy walk across the street to the beach, a little bit of a hike over the dunes to get to the ocean, but completely manageable! If I could make one suggestion if possible, ceiling fans for the front porch. It was so hot (of course we were in an extreme heat warning during our vacation) but there was no air circulating and we didn’t get to enjoy the porch at all
.we had hoped to eat breakfast out there but it was just tooooo hot! We loved visiting village conery for ice cream, hatteras bowls for a refreshing treat, waves market and deli for lunch and mirros cafe for breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed the salvo day park for our dogs to play in the water and for the amazing sunsets.

Amazing stay!

The property manager as amazing! They were incredibly accommodating! They went above and beyond to make our stay amazing! The house is clean, comfortable, has everything you need, and is in an excellent location. I highly recommend this rental and would gladly return!

Everything we hoped for and more

Such a cute beach house! The owner Pam hasn't missed a thing in making your stay comfortable. She communicated with us regularly and is such a lovely person! The house is cute and comfortable and decorated with a fun, relaxed vibe. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. The outdoor decks are well crafted and look brand new. They provided us with some nice outdoor areas to hang out. The house is a block away from the beach and a quick walk. It was so nice to be able to bring our dog. Pam has provided everything you'd need for your dog including dog bowls, extra leashes and even dog tags with the house address in the event your dog gets loose. We appreciated such thoughtful attention to detail. She is clearly a dog lover. We really enjoyed our stay at the Salvo Sandbox and will definitely be coming back to this adorable beach cottage.

Everything from communication to location was perfect. Could not have asked for a better host. Pam went out of her way to make our stay memorable with special touches like pastry delivery from a local bakery to recommendations for activities. Well equipped house and easy access to beach

This is a great spot in Salvo. Pam kept us well informed ahead of our trip and was easy to communicate with when needed. The house is well equipped with most everything you need for a beach trip. The listing is clear with what is NOT provided. It’s an older home, but you tell it’s had some good TLC; example, most all the decking has been replaced or new. There are two beach access points near the house. We would definitely stay here again.

Convenient and comfortable stay

Perfect spot and loved having the fenced in yard for our dog. Everything was well stocked and we enjoyed lounging on the multiple decks. Such a nice surprise to receive fresh baked treats from the host our first morning and we greatly appreciated all the dining and local recommendations.

Lovely beach cottage..

This beach house is a little smaller (hence a little less pricey) than others we have stayed and the owner has done a great job keeping it updated. It is decorated nicely, clean and has everything we needed. The owner thought of nice details in the house. She even sent us some cookies and muffins during our stay! If you are looking to bring your dog the house is perfect for dogs as well. The location of the house in Salvo is great as well. The beach is gorgeous and not crowded at all.

Classic Outer Banks Trip

We loved our stay at the Sandbox! This is a great property. Simple, efficient layout inside, with lots of great outdoor space. The kitchen is well equipped to cook just about anything. Pam was really helpful and responsive throughout the booking process. As some other reviews mentioned, the trek over the sand dunes might be challenging for some, but the spacious beach is well worth it. We would love to return!

Great place for the family and the yard was great for a dog. Driveway was fantastic. Really loved the concrete carport. Owner was very responsive and provided baked goods when we arrived. The outdoor shower was nice and the overall stay was exceptional!

Perfect beach house for family and kids!

This property met and exceeded our expectations! It was perfect for our family and great for small children! The kitchen was very well stocked- even kids plates, cups and silverware! We enjoyed all the outdoor decks, patio and especially the crow’s nest! Very close to beach access! Pam was very communicative and kept us well informed! Read the papers on back of the door! It’s very helpful! She even had fresh pastries sent to us one morning! Above and beyond! We will definitely be back!

Enjoyable stay

We absolutely loved staying at the Sandbox. The location was great for us. We enjoyed the multiple outside decks, with the rooftop seating being our favorite. It was a short walk to the beach, which was great. Easy to make multiple trips, as needed, for lunches/bathroom breaks/or just to come and go with the kids and dogs. We were worried there wouldn’t be too much around us, but the dollar general was close and had everything we needed. This was our first time to the OBX and we loved staying on the southern shores. It was quiet and almost like a “private” beach- plenty of room to spread out from others. We took a day trip to the north side of the island and couldn’t believe the difference in the crowds. Pam was an excellent host. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the house upon arrival. We would definitely stay again!

Cozy Beach House

We had such a lovely stay at the Sandbox! When we weren't at the beach we spent the majority of our time on the screened in porch enjoying dinners, sipping wine, and playing games. The house is a very easy walk to the beach access, however the trek up the dunes is a little strenuous, so you may want to consider renting/bringing a wagon to haul your beach gear. Some of the pillows were a little too firm for my group's liking, but not a huge deal since you can just bring your own. Pam also sent over a welcome box of cookies and muffins, such a sweet and thoughtful touch! I will definitely stay here again.

This was our first stay at The Sandbox and we had a wonderful week. The house was very clean and inviting and the kitchen had everything we needed. This is the perfect beach cottage for families that want a comfortable home close to the beach.
