We had a great stay at the St. Anthony. They were accommodating and had phenomenal customer service. Dean was fantastic! The valet were so attentive and retrieved your vehicle quickly. The park across the street was convenient if traveling with a dog. There are a lot of homeless individuals but we did not have issues.

I love staying here during the holidays, the staff and management is always accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately, the valet service is a “third party” contracted company so be wary of personal property left unattended in your vehicles. There is a standard policy of the valet service not being liable for lost , stolen or damaged vehicles and items . Other than one negative incident I experienced the valet and hotel is absolutely wonderful . Staying at this historic luxury hotel felt like stepping into a bygone era of grace and refinement. The architecture and classic decor are absolutely stunning — every hallway and room tells a story, rich with character and charm. Despite its age, the hotel is impeccably maintained. My room was spacious, with high ceilings, vintage furnishings, and a beautiful blend of old-world luxury and modern comfort. The bed was plush, the linens crisp, and the bathroom felt like a private spa. I especially appreciated the little touches like the evening turn down services.The onsite dining was exceptional, with classic dishes prepared to perfection and an atmosphere that captured the elegance of decades past. This hotel is more than a place to sleep — it’s an experience, a retreat, and a tribute to the city.

Done with St. Anthony

We didnt get to stay. They claimed that the suite i had reserved was no longer available. They offered to get me setup into a lower room with two queen beds and i said if you comp my valet. They refused. Looks like they were only interested in heping themselves. I have been a loyal customer of this hotel for years so i am overly disappointed in the hotel. But hotel contessa actually made up for it. $400 cheaper and extremely welcoming. I've found a new hotel in San Antonio. They also trued to blame Hotels.com. i told them Hotels.com only knows what is available from st anthony telling them. Poor excuse.

I've stayed on the property before and my previous experience motivated me to stay there again. The desk clerk that checked me in was not very friendly - as if he was mad I had questions about the property. I booked a junior suite, not cheap -- so I expected the room to be comfy & quiet. It was far from that. In the bedroom, I could hear the elevators dragging at all hours. It sounded as though an upstairs neighbor was dragging a couch back and forth across the floor. I arrived to check in very late on the first night so the noise was minimal -- I assume all guest were asleep and the elevators were not being used. I booked through Orbitz so I had to work with both the hotel and the booking service for any "fixes." Mario, a member of the hotel staff, was extremely helpful, friendly and professional as we attempted to work this issue together. I was refunded half the cost of the room for the first night. Because I identified the issue on the second night, they attempted to find me a new room for the last night. There was no partial refund provided for the second night, as I had requested through Orbitz -- I had to remain in the very loud, unpeaceful room. Very disappointing. When I was moved the next day, it was to the other side of the property (no noise thankfully), but into a smaller room. For the amount that I paid or that anyone pays to stay in this hotel, room 431 should not be available to any patron if the elevator is not fixed.

I only liked the fact that they had a restaurant. The rooms very tiny given the money paid. The elevators were awful; will have to wait and wait all the time. The appliances were very old.

Lovely venue but there are concerns

I stayed at the St Anthony previously and had a good experience. The one issue earlier was the functionality of the elevators. There were long waits and either one or both of the three elevators were not in use. I thought this was an isolated issue but there were issues with the elevators yet again during my latest stay. This left large numbers of people waiting ten or fifteen minutes in the lobby. We were on the third floor so we were able to use the stairs but this may be something to consider-particularly if you have mobility concerns or health issues that would make long elevator waits or climbing multiple flights of stairs prohibitive. Regarding the room we stayed in, it was nice and clean but had the worst vantage point from the windows. If you choose to stay at St Anthony's, be very clear that you do not want room 345. A massive, ugly and prominently placed piece of metal will be all you can see. I've stayed in New York City hotels with a view of a brick wall which I would prefer to the view from room 345. On the brighter side, the valet staff were fantastic and will do whatever they can to support your needs. I needed to drive someone to the airport and leave at 4:15am. No worries or hassles there. The car was ready and waiting and the valets were solicitous and professional. This is probably my last time staying at St Anthony's but it is a lovely venue in an area of San Antonio with great character.
