We stayed at La Pensione for three nights on a short trip in San Diego. The location is fabulous in Little Italy with an extensive range of restaurants on the doorstep. We walked to all the places we wanted to visit in our two days, the ferry to take us to Coronado, the Maritime Museum in the Harbour and the gorgeous Balboa Park and San Diego Zoo. It couldn't have been better located for our stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable, we had a balcony room which was great, adding more space and a view over the buzzing Street scene for our three nights. Whilst busy during the evenings the area was reasonably quiet after the restaurants closed.
Our gripe was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities for the rooms. Although hot water was available in the conference room in the mornings there was no black tea, no coffee and no milk for two of the mornings. A simple thing but it would have made a big difference to how we felt about our stay.
Would we stay again? Possibly, but tea and coffee please.
Difficult to select a better location for a stay in San Diego. You are close to everything and you can even walk to all attractions from the hotel, the San Diego zoo would be a 40 min walk but everything else is 20 to 30 min walk.Little Italy is very lively with excellent restaurants 2 min walk from the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel.
Room was a bit on the smaller side, but it was very clean and the staff was extremely nice. Also, great locationâŠ.there is a really cool street market that sets up outside a few days a week with really cool stuff. Also located near a lot of really good restaurants.
Staff was a little stand offish and offered very little in way of hospitality. But, one staffer did offer bottled water on the second night. The room was noisy at night from the street noise. The rooms donât get cleaned unless you ask which we didnât know, so we were there all weekend Friday to Sunday and never had the room cleaned. Location was centrally located and closed to everything.
Always a nice stay right on India St in Lil Italy walk to it all. Been here 5x past three years always a nice stay.
Parking garage will not fit your trucks and 4x4 Jeeps have to park up the street in ACE over night parking and walk back.
I was there for a one night stay for the San Diego marathon. Hotel is in a fantastic location for food and access to the marathon finish line. Rooms are small and my AC wasnât cooling, but it didnât bother me as I just wanted to go to bed early and wake up for an early race start. Front desk staff were great, providing waters and also accommodated a late checkout which must have been challenging with so many runners staying there.
Location was great and room was fine, although a bit small with limited amenities (eg an in room coffee machine or good on site coffee). Parking was available although a bit tight. Overall fine for a two night stay.
We stayed here with our baby and it was a disappointing experience. The hotel doesnât provide cribs, and when I asked to upgrade after realizing I booked a Queen bed by mistake, the front desk guy didnât even check â he just said they were sold out and clearly didnât want to be bothered. I asked how we were supposed to sleep safely with a baby and he didnât care.
The room was dirty â the toilet seat had yellow stains, the metal toilet paper holder was falling apart, and the dark carpet felt gross. I honestly felt like I needed to shower and scrub myself clean as soon as we got home. Definitely not baby-friendly or worth the price.
