We stayed at the Wayfarer San Diego for three nights and booked three separate rooms. We did have to move two rooms at check-in due to some minor issues, but Michael, the front desk manager, handled everything quickly and followed up to make sure we were taken care of. Alyssa and the rest of the front desk staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely appointed. For a “city view,” we actually had a nice glimpse of the ocean, which was a pleasant surprise. The beds were very comfortable, and the water pressure was great. The only downside was that a couple of the rooms had a slight mildew smell. Parking at $40 a night is steep, especially considering how tight the spaces are, but overall, we enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again.

Room had an angled view of the beach and a direct view of the parking lot. Many public sound disruptions throughout the night but that is beach living for you.

Room was stuffy, dingy, and outdated. “Room service” was nothing more than a frozen breakfast sandwich thrown in a microwave. It was loud and felt unsafe. Completely overpriced for what you get.

On my second night, my room was permeated by a strong sewage smell that I couldn’t get rid of, even after opening the windows. Other than that, the location is great, staffs were very friendly, and it’s right by the beach. Very convenient.
