It’s a perfect basic motel. Price is very reasonable, room is clean and has everything you need. Parking lot seems safe. Their rules are a bit and flexible if you want to check in early or leave late, but that is understandable. $25 for an early check in before 3 PM and $50 an hour for up to two hour late checkout.

Check-in was quick and easy. The room itself was fine and clean. Bed was comfortable. Shower head in the bathroom, however, was a total miss with the uneven water distribution, was just poor, really. The major issue here though was how much noise you can hear coming from the people upstairs, next door, outside. Paper thin walls is an understatement here. Maybe we got really unlucky but we had to call room service to get the people upstairs to quiet down because it was already midnight and they just wouldn't stop making noise. We could hear everything 😞 Despite the rating, solely because of the noise issue, we wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The Avenue Inn was an easy affordable clean and safe place to stay to visit San Luis Obispo and the area. Walkable to restaurants and some of the sites in town. It’s no frills but it met all my needs. The people are very nice too.

MONEY GRAB

Everything about the hotel was fine—clean, comfortable, decent amenities—but the excessive nickel-and-diming ruined the experience. You’re charged for *everything*. Didn’t turn in your key? That’s a fee. Stay even 10 minutes past checkout? That’s a flat $50 charge, no grace period, no flexibility. It feels less like hospitality and more like a money grab. I expect to pay for services, but this place goes out of its way to squeeze every dollar it can out of you. Disappointing and unnecessary.
