Unique property. Old, huge Victorian-style converted house. Well maintained. Huge room. Great location just steps away from downtown SLO. Breakfast was french toast but think that change by the day.
Service. Initial room conditions were not fully prepared for customer use. Issues with plumbing, TV and AC. However staff actions help to move us to another room.
Unfortunately despite the price tag competing with 4 and 5 star hotels the property was run down and old with a malfunctioning sink that did NOT drain and a very old bed that caused all kinds of neck and back pain; the shower curtain was coming off the wall, and the patio furniture was filthy dirty and unusable
My sister and I stayed here two nights and it was great. Both check in and check out were very quick and convenient. Plus the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Inn is in an old historic building with modern conveniences like renovated rooms and nice bedding. Lots of places outside to sit and enjoy all the neighborhood trees and flowers. Walkable to downtown shops, restaurants and bars. Be sure to stay when there's a concert at the Fremont Theatre. No parking, street or garage.
Itâs a charming, quaint house centrally located downtown. However, it is an old house and has not been properly repurposed with sound insulation as I could hear my next door neighbor snore at night and hear hotel guests laugh and talk loudly downstairs from my room upstairs, and worse, hear the people in the parking lot next to the hotel talk at night. There were no modern conveniences such as a safe or small fridge/mini bar in the room nor an electric kettle to boil water or any drawers for my clothes. There wasnât sufficient space to put away anything. In fact, I was given a different room from the one I booked and there was no one there after I checked in to tell. So I had to contact my travel agency. I was obliged to stay for 2 nights as I couldnât cancel, but I checked out on my last night and stayed at another hotel that was more comfortable. I would say this is not a 4 star boutique hotel.
This is a beautiful property in downtown SLO within walking distance to absolutely everything. There we so many wonderful touches to the B & B and a fantastic, welcoming staff. It was such a pleasure to stay at the Garden Inn!
