Second year staying here. New owners definitely have a few kinks to work out. We were celebrating my 30th birthday. First off this is a second floor property and the elevator was inaccessible when we got there. We called the owner and she said she would have someone out within 45 minutes for us to use the elevator. No one ever showed up so we had to haul all our luggage, coolers, etc up the stairs. The next day we needed more bath towels and our AC didnât seem to be working. We called the owner and left a voicemail. It took 24 hours for her to call us back, thank goodness we could reuse our towels and there were plenty of ceiling fans in the unit. Once they did show up 24 hours later the owner told us she didnât know what was going on with the air and would move us to another unit. At this point it was our last day here and there was no point in moving. The owner apologized but didnât seem very sincere. I work in customer service so it has to be really bad for me to ever complain. I feel like if anything she should have knocked a little money off the bill. We paid almost $1700 for the weekend and and not having the use of the elevator for a second story stay or AC for two nights of the stay is kind of ridiculous. Been to the island many times and stayed in many different properties and this went from being my favorite to near the bottom with the new owners. I hope they can get their stuff together!
We stayed at the Chapman house from July 31-aug 2nd. Check in was super easy the owner was already there waiting for us and was super nice and helpful! Had her number to keep in contact if we needed anything. The room was so clean and comfy. We come to the island once every summer and this was our first time staying here, we will be staying here for now on!!
My taxi dropped me off at the wrong location so they came to get me which I thought was awesome. Adorable suites but they had a deadbolt and the door knob lock... unfortunately the doorknob lock was broken and the doorknob looked like it was coming off. The floor was also rotting away under the door and had a hole which I was a little concerned about but didnât effect our stay. Towels had stains on them but smelled clean. I love that there was a kitchen and full fridge. Walls are paper thin so we were woken up several times by our neighbors. But everything else was in good working order. We didnât spend much time in our suite so we didnât care too much about the little things. Overall, Iâd stay again if it was a short stay!
The staff were really helpful. We stayed in the efficiency and it was really large and clean. The location is away from the downtown area so quieter and they rented us a golf cart at half the usual rate. It was also wonderful to have a porch. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
The room was clean and well laid out it had all the amenities needed for a short or extended stay the property is located in a quiet part of town yet still within walking distance to all the shops bars and restaurants
Units (rooms) are nice ! The way it should be ,thatâs it !! Wifi never worked ! Cable : forget about it ! Elevator always broken so I consider this false advertisement! You are paying for something that is NOT worth the price ! Love the island but Iâll stay somewhere else !
Les points forts : Personnel et service et confort de la chambre
Donât judge a book by its cover.
The outside of the building is dirty and needs big time sprucing and a power wash head to toe. It also houses an on site golf cart repair service business. Walking up to the room the whole balcony was covered with cobwebs and was dirty. Our door handle was broke and had tape on it but the deadbolt at least worked. My party was a little freaked out and second guessing our stay there.... then we opened the door to our unit and was pleasantly surprised. It was VERY clean in every room and was actually super cute. It had everything you needed in there for our stay. Do not let the first impression scare you away. It was a great stay... awesome location and the owners were very nice. I wouldnât hesitate to book again and will do so next summer.
Was not impressed. The outside was filthy for starters. The "hotel" was understaffed. No one knew the wifi password and once it was discovered, it SELDOM worked. The carpets were dirty and there was a smell of mold. This is a TWO STAR hotel!!!!
I have previously stayed at a hotel in the downtown area, and in a cabin across the island that offered shuttle service to the downtown area. If I go to put in bay again I would prefer to stay here. I wasnât sure about it when we got there. I wasnât sure what to expect, he put us in a room that was right next to a maintaince garage. So I was skeptical. But everything was clean; and there was lots of space in the room for us. It was a good location for our purposes. Being downtown was too much and being in the cabin was too far. We rented a golf cart, and with this being just passed perryâs Monument going away from the downtown area I felt it was a nice location. Enough to get out of the downtown area if we wanted, but close enough to make multiple trips back and forth throughout the weekend.
The room itself was charming and modern with vintage nautical accents. I like to also mention that the room is bigger than it looks and can accommodate up to six people with some imagination (air mattress, sleeping bag, etc). My suggestion for the room is to double the amount of pillows on the beds for head support and I would change the analog television to a flat screen (at least a 55 inch) because it seemed far away. I would put it in the corner where the entire room can view it for optimal use. The bathroom is handicap accessible and is easily useful for everyone. The owner was pleasant and attentive. I would recommend visiting on a weekend or in season. The town was pretty quiet and most business were not open as we went on a weekday in mid May.
