only two nights, clean room, clean bed, shower good, tv ok, staff all nice, its a rock pub,if you dont like late night noise and loads of students then its not for you, i am 61 and stayed here 7 times
The location of the hotel is very convenient for anyone visiting the University of Sheffield (which is why I booked it), but the condition of rooms is pretty poor and on Thursdays to Sundays it is impossible to sleep because of the night club.
I was reassured by the staff that my room will be ok, because it is was on the second floor (so at least one floor separates me and the night club on the ground floor). But the boomers from the night club reverberate through the entire building, so no matter where you are in the building, don't expect any sleep from 11pm to 4am on Thursday to Saturday nights. The "special instructions" of the hotel do say that, but I booked in a hurry and did not notice it first. I think they should not call themselves a hotel, but a night club hotel, so it is clear right from the start. I had to stay in another place for one of these weekend nights just to get some sleep and when I got back to my room next day I found that one panel from the ceiling fell off! It was right above my bed. I wonder if it was from all the vibration in the walls.
The burgers in their restaurant were ok, but the wait was at least 1 hour and the staff were up themselves and unpleasant.
Easy access. Close to many restaurants. Visitors have to consider the noise and vibration from the bar. They played music (I guess they played the instruments) from 10 PM to 6 am. In my case, I could bear noise. But vibration from ground floor was quite painful.
The only member of staff seen was a lady at reception who issued our room key to room two, no one else during whole stay. Noise levels fine until rubbish and bin collection at about 6.30am. There was no breakfast being served either day, just a note pinned to the bar door âSorry no breakfast being servedâ, or words to that effect. Having paid for B and B an apology for no breakfast would have helped.
Cheap and cheerful, but noise sensitive people should be aware that the nightclub goes full throttle until 4am. Earplugs helped, but the bass reverberated even through upstairs rooms.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The evening and breakfast menus featured hipster twists on mid-level gastropub grub.
This is the worst hotel ever I stayed in my life.
The hotel has night club at the ground floor. It was Friday night and after 12 midnight the music and dance started with very very loud noise which made me woke up mid my sleep. The speakers deck sound was so high that even the second floor was sort of vibrating. It continued till 4 AM in the morning. Big crowd of boys and girls was making loud noise out side the club. It was horrible night.
Never ever stay in such a horrible hotel
The staff are great! Thatâs where the positives end sadly. The bar turns in to a night club at weekends, and you get to pay full price for the privilege of staying in a room you canât get to sleep in until at least 0400 (if youâre lucky) but you do get free entry to the night club, although actuall entry is not not required!!!! The room itself was adequate but in dire need of a makeover and some diy as the bathroom was falling apart (every the the food closed the shower curtain fell down) no sound proofing to the window (although Iâm guessing there once was) all in all perfect for those who like clubs, not so if youâre there to sleep! Would I stay there again???? NEVER
