Location of property was great. Close to attractions & hiking trails in the area. If you are planning to cook meals onsite may want to bring your own pots & pans. There were 2 12 inch fry pans & 1 sauce pan, & 1 glass cake pan. Not really enough to cook a full meal. Oven was dirty. Owner was notified of oven condition upon check out. If not going to be cooking won't be a problem. Did not use hot tub so cannot speak to it.
Lack of reliable Internet/wireless / Cabin mildew smells
Check in was supposed to be open to 8 pm but they were closed by 5 pm and poor Internet/cell made it difficult to call them or learn how to pick up the key. There was Wi-Fi in the cabin but it was VERY intermittent. Have all of your information printed out in advance. The cabin had a strong mildew smell, especially in the lower level.
We enjoyed The Bear Cub Cabin! Perfect location, clean, and comfortable! It was great relaxing in the hot tub after hiking all day. My teenage boys loved the pool table.
Cookware in horrible shape. No flat sheet or pillow cases. Bedding worn with holes in it.Beds were uncomfortable. One bed had springs you could feel poking your body. Another bed was foam and with two people it was like sleeping in a hot bowl. We had 3 couples in our group and there were not enough towels. Only one working smoke detector in the whole place, located in an upstairs bedroom. Guess they figured it wasn't needed because the fireplace didn't work. Carpet in bad shape with exposed tack strip.
Great location. Water pressure and hot tub were actually very nice. That being said, this place was not even close to worth what we paid for it.
Location was great, but it was clear that there was a mouse problem. The cabin didnât seem clean at all and the kitchen was not well equipped with even the basics to cook with, the oven and burners both smelled bad when trying to use them, I found later it was bc of mouse poop
I'm usually a hotel kind of person but I have to say the cabin was very nice I will definitely be back. the location was awesome cabins below but far enough you can't really hear them.
I guess we expected a bit more secluded, but it still a nice quiet area. We did not notice when booking that it doesn't have wifi, which actually turned out to be nice. All in all, it was a nice property. Don't expect a 5 star hotel, but it was great for us being on a budget.
This cabin was great lots of space, very clean, great location close to everything, beautiful scenery. Everything was exactly as advertised.
Would give more stars if I could.
You will not regret renting this cabin.
For the price it was great. Easy fast check in/ easy to get to. Clean and the hot tub worked great. Only bad I seen was no chalk for the pool cues but no biggie. I would stay again.
The mattresses are sagged and uncomfortable. Sheets and pillows had hairs. The carpet is damaged and has exposed tact strips. The caulk in downstairs shower has mildew stains. The counter is tiles and the grout between is not cleanable. Gaps around sink are full of gunk. The drawers for silverware have ancient, torn, disgusting liner. Gaps at walls are filled with foam. Gaps in doors have overlays with other wood. There are no lamps in the bedrooms and only one in the living room. So itâs too dark or full overhead lights. The spotlights at hot tub are out. The gas fireplace required maintenance for pilot. Although it sleeps more, kitchen table seats only 4 and must be pulled away from wall and then you canât manage refrigerator door. All Teflon pans are horribly scratched. Very limited to cook - 1 serrated steak knife. I would not recommend to anyone. - despite location and size.
Love this cabin and the ease of booking and check in. Don't usually review but wanted to give a shout out to whoever built the deck AROUND the existing trees. Most would cut the trees out of the way, but they worked around the trees and cut a hole in the deck for the trees to grow through. Would highly recommend this place for anyone staying in the gorge and will definitely return.
We enjoyed our stay immensely! The cabin was clean and well equipped. Excellent location! Close to Miguelâs Pizza which was excellent! Princess Arch and Chimney Top are the easiest out and back hikes with spectacular views. Our only complaint is that the pictures showed a fooseball table in the living room (which, granted, would have made it feel quite crowded as well as being loud⊠still, we booked partly for that) and it was gone. There was, however, a brand new hot tub which was fabulous!
It was great... We didn't wxpect the little things we had packed for our stay... But, they were there...đ
And, the pool table was absolutely divine to play .... đ
Would definitely stay in the Bear Cub II again...
The property is not fancy but quite functional and clean, with more than enough room and comfortable sleeping spaces for a typical family, everything worked as it should. No laundry but we did not need it for a weekend visit.
There are stores near by and a good Mexican restaurant, and the location is close to the local attractions . Cell phone reception is very poor and there is no WIFI, which I think would be a significant improvement that should be considered. The gravel driveway is fairly steep and could be a bit challenging for a front wheel drive car. Overall we are happy with our stay and we would go back in the future.
