Great location in South Hero but the prooerty is quite rustic and extremely dated. The property is lakefront, close to a couple of restaurants, beds we're comfortable and clean, and is in a very quiet area. On the downside, the house looks tired, needs a significant update (carpets were worn and dirty), and the price per night is quite steep (when you include all of the fees). A note about the property, there is a pump located in the kitchen that goes off every twenty minutes or so and is very loud. There is no door separating the kitchen from the living room, only a curtain so this can be an issue at night if you are a light sleeper.
I drove up to the Burlington area (from Frederick MD) for a 3-day reunion of a group of us who had served as Peace Corps Volunteers or staff 30 years ago in Morocco from 1991-1993.
Staying in your lake front cabin was wonderful. Very relaxing mornings. Also thank you for being pet friendly - that was a criteria for me. My 4-month old puppy loved all the yards, and the freedom (under my supervision) of your lovel space. Thank you - this house right on the water was more than I had expected.
We had a great time kayaking and sitting by the lake. It was very peaceful and quiet. The views of the lake are awesome. The big screened in porch was great for sitting in at night and playing games. The house is rustic and has everything you need.
I rented the place for me, my daughter, and our two dogs for a long weekend; we only stayed three nights. This worked for us but would undoubtedly be even better for a larger group as it had many beds spread throughout the house. This is a rustic campânothing super fancy, which I appreciate. We spent most of our time playing games and playing with the dogs on the front covered porch. This is also where I slept and enjoyed waking up to the sun beaming on the water.
The kitchen was well supplied; it had most of what we needed. We cooked and ate most of our meals at the house. We did walk to a few nearby eateries that were enjoyable, such as Walley's Place Bagels (about a 10-minute walk) and Seb's Snack Bar (about a 15-minute walk). There weren't any large grocery stores nearby, but Emmons Grocery and Gas Station had most of the staples.
We drove to Montreal, CA, one day; the border crossing was quick and easy. It only took us about 2 hours.
We hoped to kayak or paddle board, but accessing the water seemed impossible because we wanted to avoid navigating through the sludge. This was a huge negative.
The lake was wonderful! The dock, kayak, canoe, yard games, and sun porch were very nice. The entire inside was beyond disgusting, and despite reaching out to the property manager several times, and being told help was coming, none ever came. Our sheets had dog hair, dirt, and debris ALL through them, dishes in the cabinets were dirty, every window had cobwebs and loads of dead bugs, the door was broken, and everything was as âjankyâ. For what you get, it should be a LOT cheaper per night. Itâs like camping, but in other peopleâs dirt and filth. If you want to enjoy your rental, choose a different one!
