We absolutely loved our time in the Sunset cabin and would definitely stay again. Had some trouble getting ahold of the host but it didn't impede our stay. The cabin was the perfect size for my partner and I, and the fireplace made it so cozy. The kitchenette was great too.We did end up going out to get our own dish soap, as dish water is dumped outside and the one stocked is Dawn which doesnât biodegrade. It would be great if Camp Amnicon could use another type of soap like Mrs. Meyer's - which is what we got - because it will biodegrade in the environment.Overall an excellent experience and we are already looking forward to coming back!
Amnicon was great! They think of everything to make your stay perfect. Sunset was so cute and absolutely perfect for a weekend away. Even though there were other people staying on the property I felt secluded and as if I had the place to myself. I highly recommend Amnicon and look forward to coming back again in the future.
Wonderful property - my extended family rented all 6 cabins for a few nights after a wedding. Cabins are clean and comfortable, property is beautiful, staff is super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed campfires every night and paddling on the river and swimming in the lake.
I love that sunset is the farthest cabin, if you want privacy itâs just a short walk from the main area but itâs a bit more secluded. The cabin is set up nicely and the bed is super comfortable. The cabin holds a lot of heat so donât worry about getting cold, they do have extra blankets and an extra electric heater if you need it. The out house was clean and probably 6 feet from the cabin itself, thereâs an outside light that lights everything up nicely if you have to go at night. The heater in the outhouse was awesome! I love that it was unlocked and the fire wood is a help yourself situation so we didnât have to worry about meeting anyone to get a key or let us in. There is drinking water in the cabin and a microwave, toaster oven, and hot plate and a small variety of essential utensils and dishes. All in good condition. The cabin itself was very clean and well kept. Itâs a short drive to amnicon falls state park and the camp also has several trails to explore. The camp is at the end of a 5 mile dirt road so no one is hanging around that shouldnât be there. Overall this was a wonderful place to stay! Definitely would come back!
It was 3 great days, being quiet but active. going between hiking and table games and cards. The lake pulled us back to its shores at least 3 times. and the light when we woke up was special. The trip to the out house gave me a star show that I had not seen since my last BWCAW trip. We both enjoyed are time and was glad to have a full day friday, even though we need to be home for Saturday morning.
We were happy to get the cabin at Camp Amnicon and had no problems during our stay. It is the off season and the weather was cool and we had a couple of rainy spells, but we hiked and watched birds each day in spite of the weather. Hiking to the Lake Superior beach was enjoyable. We had no problem carting our gear in to the "walk in" cabin. Numerous hikes, state parks, and birdwatching sites are a short drive away. Birdwatching from the cabin was productive and interesting. We hope to visit Camp Amnicon again during the off-season. I really appreciate the walk-in cabins and the distance from the highway. You can hear the breeze, birds, and distant surf of Lake Superior...the peaceful sounds of Nature.
This was our second stay at Camp Amnicon. We stayed in Quietude last year, but booked Sunset this year because the three new ones werenât available. It was great!! We think we might like sunset/sunrise better because they feel much more private, and we didnât need the bigger space of the newer cabins. So cozy - we love the fireplace!
It was so peaceful and quiet. A nice place to rest.
One suggestion would be to have a curtain between the bathroom and shower area to allow for some privacy.
My husband and I stayed for three nights and loved it! Once at Camp Amnicon, you really donât need to go anywhere else during your trip. It has hiking trails, an amazing beach along Lake Superior where we found lots of sea glass and pretty drift wood, the coziest private cabin, and a nice private fire pit right outside the cabin. Their saying of âit has everything you need and nothing you donâtâ is exactly right.
