We booked this hotel two weeks in advance, but they nearly put us in a very difficult position by canceling our booking. Our flight was canceled, which caused us to miss the first night, and since we were in the air for over 11 hours, we had no way to call the hotel. In over 30 years of traveling, I have never experienced a hotel canceling a confirmed reservation under these circumstances.
While the staff tried to be as friendly as possible and eventually issued a refund a few days later, this decision still put us in a tight financial spot, as we had to pay significantly more for last-minute accommodation.
I share this as a warning to future guests and as feedback to hotel management: do not cancel confirmed bookings so freely—you never know the situation your guests might be facing.
