Sad

Hi we are not pleased the TV did not work the first staff member tried to fix it, it came on then stopped then another member tried and could not get it going so no Tv . My wife could not use he lap top in the room, a staff member tried to help he took it out side the room and got it working but back in the room it did not work. They told us parking was free but when I went to get my car at 0500 this morning I had to pay. The staff where very nice. We will never us this hotel again.

The air conditioner was there to blow air only! We arrived in the middle of the night and the room was HOTTT. Hoping to have at least a few hrs of sleep. It showed 25 degrees Celsius at one of the times I went to see if it really just didn’t work.

The Duckworth was an older building but the room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The location was good for walking to Jelly Bean Row, restaurants and pubs. Access to the George Street Festival was close by as well.

The room is very small and the bed was indented in the middle which caused you to roll to the centre. Also due to its closeness to pubs in the area it is extremely noisy to sleep. There was a dog barking for two hours from about 1 am to 3 am in the morning. The pub noise and people shouting stopped around 3:45 am. Would be ok to stay for an extreme discount but would not be paying much to stay here.

The bed was very comfortable. The air condition was a welcome treat. The bar of soap on the bathtub ledge left by the previous guest makes me question how well the shower was cleaned. Power sources were well hidden, maybe a power bar would be a good addition. Very tiny television screen. One broken chair.

The hotel is a 100 years old so it is a bit of an unique experience. We stayed on the third floor so since there is no elevator that was two long flights of stairs. We decided to only bring up the things we needed for two days rather than haul our suitcases up. Although a staff member did offer to help. The room was fine but it could use some hooks on the wall to hang clothes on. The location is great . Can easily walk to the downtown area

Incredibly comfortable, spacious, and clean with all the amenities you need. The property is a charming old building and very conveniently located to restaurants and pubs; easy walk to the waterfront and The Rooms museum. The king size bed was so comfortable I ended up sleeping most of the first day because I didn’t want to leave it. The staff was wonderful. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

I had a grand 3 night stay at The Duckworth in July 2025. I was very grateful for the staff taking my luggage off my hands before I could check in and also texting me when my room was ready. As I was very much in need of a shower and rest that heads up was much appreciated. The location is fantastic - walkable easily to all parts of downtown with lots of restaurants, pubs and tourist attractions in East walking distance. I found my room to be well laid out and I liked the decor. The room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was amazingly comfortable. There was plentiful hot water and great wi-fi. While there was no in-hotel noise, if you are sensitive to noise two factors to bear in mind are the downtown location (there are some street traffic sounds) and the window mounted A/C which, according to the decibel meter on my phone, made about 40-ish DB (similar to a quiet library). But the A/C was necessary as the temps with the humidex were mid-30s Celsius. This was my second time staying at The Duckworth and when next in St John's I hope to stay there again.

Great stay.

Easy self check in. The location was wonderful with fully walkable neighbourhood to main down town core and the famous George Street. We would have liked to visit the restaurant in the lobby. It was always busy and looked beautiful, but we ran out of time. For a short stay, we would stay here again. It had a tiny tv. If large tv is impirtant to you, know this.
