Fantastic place to stay!
Greeted by a couple of really nice chaps at Reception, unexpected upgrade from a Comfort Double to Junior Suite.
The room was very nice and spacious! Plenty of plugs and ports to charge at convenient places.
Coffee machine and fruit teas were a welcome bonus.
There was a fan in the room as there is no aircon.
I have 2 suggestions to make the room better. First that as the shower is over the bath, a handle to support in and out given how slippery it is.
Second, the windows rattle whilst open, something to stop that so the windows can be open at night without being a distraction would really make this place!
We were initially given a room which led onto a flat roof where workmen were having a smoke break. There was also some kind of extractor fan vibrating away too. This room was absolutely not suitable for guests.
Thankfully, after asking to be moved we were given a proper guest room on the opposite side of the building which was absolutely lovely. Spacious, clean and luxurious.
The building is very old and beautiful and full of character. It is in the heart of the town centre providing great access.
The bar was lovely and reasonably priced.
It may be worth mentioning that the hotel was next to a Wetherspoons with a beer garden. This stayed open till late at the weekend, but the noise didn't really affect us much.
The hotel had its own parking which was free and I managed to park there for the duration of my stay but there were not many spaces, so I felt lucky.
Not really welcomed, no info about key fob or its use, no info on whatâs available in the hotel. TV did not work.
Room was above pub. Yes understand itâs a Saturday night, so there would be noise. But the glass/beer bottles being poured into a bin in an area outside the window at 11pm was unwelcome.
A very special weekend made even better by the Stroud. A free upgrade to their best room made us feel like VIPs and a late check out too! The room was amazing, spacious, with a bathtub and separate shower room. The bed was big and comfy. The hotel made sure our room had a fan on this particularly hot weekend, drawing the curtains to try and keep it cool. Although you are next to the station and above the outside drinks area, we rarely heard anything. No trouble sleeping!
Only thoughts would be a mini fridge in the room to keep our drinks cold and having to go to the bar to find reception staff due to their split roles.
We chose this hotel both as a stop off break on our way to Cornwall and a place where we could meet up with friends we had not seen for a year.
We were pleasantly surprised by both the welcome and the hotel itself. Whilst Stroud itself is a bit of a mix this hotel is, in my opinion, the jewel in the crown. The refurbishment is top notch. The decor is very stylish and tasteful, up to date in every way.
Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice from continental to cooked. Staff could not do enough for all their customers.
We would definitely return next time we are in that neck of the woods.
Excellent location, excellent food and great rooms
Only thing I would change is the parking availability, although you can park close for about ÂŁ3:10 a day
My stay at The Stroud Hotel couldn't have been better. Its central location with small car park met my need, and the friendly welcome set things of nicely.
The room was spacious and clean, well appointed with a modern feel yet befitting exactly the kind of hotel you'd find in a local station hotel in the Cotswolds. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom large and very clean.
The bar was excellent with great food and drink, and at reasonable prices. I particularly enjoyed the jalapeno croquettes and the veggie breakfast. Coffee was also spot on for a morning boost.
All in all, absolutely gorgeous hotel with service to match at a price that doesn't break the bank. Next time I'm in Gloucestershire, I'll be staying here rather than at the P****** I** or that other dirty chain...
Very comfy beds, very friendly staff, convenient location, great service and food at the pub! We stayed in a spacious family room (2 rooms with king beds), although only one floor above the pub so it was a bit noisy.
Beautiful old building with very acceptable public rooms, bars and so on. The major downside the somewhat diffficult stairs for old clients like me. One understands the structural impossibilities of a listed building but there must be some sort of solution. Buffet breakfast fruit etc all good.
