Comfortable stay with all the needed utensils for cooking and grilling. Washer, dryer and fully fenced yard were very much appreciated. The enclosed sun porch was a great place to start the day.
Truly the quiet side of AcadiaMariners Reach was a quiet place and a great home away from.home to.relax cook and make trips to Acadia. Well furnished and plenty of room for the family.
Overall great place. Great view. Alittle far from stuff but its ok. The view and property made up for that. You can tell the previous owners loved to garden. Whoever owns it now i would suggest updating some lighting. We had issues with turning lights on. Dont know if it was the outlets themselves or the fixtures. The bathroom ceiling could use some cleaning. Overall we had a great time. We would totally rebook and tell our family and friends.
The best thing about our stay at Mariners reach was that it has a really nice large fenced in yard which our dog loved. The house itself was comfortable, although the property and house needs some love and repairs.-looks like it was well taken care of in the past with a beautiful garden. Most of what we needed was there, although we did not find any lobster crackers, no extra bags for the kitchen trashcan; only one extra roll of toilet paper in each of the bathrooms. we actually purchased some lobster crackers and pic forks, and also 4 placemats for the kitchen table from the dollar store - wasnât very expensive, but they are nice touches to have. Washer and dryer worked well and were good to have there. Living room is comfortable - sunroom and deck were very nice to sit out on. There are window air conditioners for those hot days. The self-contained apartment above the garage was very nice. One caution: there is kind of a path down to the Mount Desert narrows tidal waters which at low tide was cool for our young adult children to explore, however, itâs very dangerous and steep- leaf-covered and kind of rocky. I would not advise it for older people or young children.
If you are looking for a pet friendly property with views this is for you. The house was very clean and the kitchen is very well stocked. Had a little issue with the batteries being dead on the code lock but the management company was very responsive and told us how to get in!!! I would definitely rent again!
Very large house/property, everything you could need
Overall, the property was very large, and there was plenty of room for many people. The views in the back were lovely! The house was very clean on the inside, and I have to say it had the most well stocked kitchen of any home I have rented. Also, they gave more than enough towels, which is always appreciated. The few downsides I could mention would be that the garage side of the house needed a power washing, given it was the first impression when pulling in. Also, the garden/yard seemed overgrown, and those were the first things we saw. But, those were just minor things, and overall, the house was very nice and we got comfortable quickly!
We enjoyed our time at this property. Pretty good location to get to Schoodic Peninsula and Acadia. Though, getting to Acadia is a little far if that is your emphasis for your trip. The inside of the main house was very clean. Seating could be greatly improved. The furniture in the sunroom was almost unusable they were so uncomfortable. The kitchen needs some work. There are two lazy-susans, one of which almost fell on the floor when I tried to open it looking for a pot. Outside needs a lot or attention. It looks run-down and overgrown. You have to wind your way around bushes and plants to get to the front door. With Maine's tick problem, we were very careful to not touch any of the plants. The "garden" looks like it has not been touched in years. There are 4-5 falling-down wooden structures on the property. Just not appealing. Getting to the water is a problem. It is down a very steep hill over tree roots and decaying wooden stairs. The bench at the water front is overgrown with weeds and totally not usable.
Although the location is a 35 minute drive from both sides of Acadia, it fit our needs and price range as a family of 6 with a dog. The home was well equipped and the rental agency was very thorough with communication. The back lawn access to the Narrows was lovely. Plenty of outdoor chairs. Kitchen materials were sufficient. The bathroom had a difficult time drying out after a few showers, even though there is a vent fan. The water was plenty hot. We did need to burn a candle often due to slight animal smells when returning to the house daily. Overall, it was what we expected from reading previous reviews.
This was the perfect spot. Short walk to the water. The gardens are beautiful. It rained most of the time we were there but we made the best of it. I would highly recommend this rental.
This was a wonderful property to relax in after retiring. We have been visiting ME for over 20 years but always on MDI. Sullivan was a great location; things to do close by but not too far to drive to Bar Harbor. Our plan is to retire and this home was a great way to glimpse what that might look like for us!
This is a very nice location and met all our needs. Being pet friendly, this rental had some odors until we aired out the building. Expected nature and insects. Very nice second suite for privacy. Thoughtful with lawn chairs and toiletries.
Great views of the river. My 81 yr old father sat on the deck and enjoyed his coffee every morning. House was clean and had what we needed for our stay. Would def stay here again.
The kids went straight to the water and before we even checked out the house, plans were being made for our next vacation here and renting this property. Waterfront property, fire pit, beautiful garden, completely fenced in yard for the pups, separate sleeping quarters above the garage for those who want to retreat from the kiddos, we had absolutely nothing but great things to say about this property. We will be back!
Loved how close to the water with easy access to the shore. Inside was very clean and comfortable. Wish more care was taken to the exterior and landscaping.
We had the absolute BEST time here. The property was immaculate & exactly as advertised. There were no surprises at any point with billing, check-in, check-out, etc. The location was PERFECT for visiting Acadia & is relatively close to stores & takeout, but definitely feels remote (which we LOVED). We were even able to get an emergency doordash order of groceries we needed for a dinner we cooked during our stay. Oh! I almost forgot to mention that for those who enjoy some of the darker things in life, there is a beautiful cemetery next door! We were delighted to find it during our first chance to explore the property. Most importantly, we were able to bring our adventure-dog with us & she felt right at home here; it was nice to see her rest easy after long days of adventuring.
TL;DR; The entire process was smooth sailing from start to finish, with incredibly accommodating hosts, & I fully regret that I didn't book for longer.
We can't wait to make this our yearly vacation spot!!!
Things owners could not help- Hurricane Lee and the barrage of acorns on the metal roof that kept us from sleeping.
Otherwise- Very convenient to both parts of Acadia and the sunsets over the narrows were absolutely gorgeous. The multitude of stars were spectacular.
