Just right.

We decided to take a little road trip to explore parts of the Oregon countryside we hadn't visited in the 50+ years living in Oregon. We saw some good reviews for the Celilo Inn so we gave it a try. Truth be told, I'm a bit of a princess when it comes to lodging. I am fussy about cleanliness and comfort. I was a bit leery of Celilo Inn due to it's age and nature of being a "motel". An old motel at that. It did not disappoint. The great reviews I read were indeed still true. It is very clean, in very good condition, bed was comfy, lots of pillows, lovely view of the Columbia River and The Dalles Dam, nice little patio, and staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfect place with the perfect price. It's a weird entrance, but that was the biggest negative. One last mention.... the website mentions wine passes and wine reception, but that's not a thing any longer.

What a gem! The incredible thoughtful and caring staff make this place gold. I stayed for 2.5 weeks on business. First, it's incredibly clean with no excess fragrances, very safe as they are up on a hill that dead ends to their property, and anything you need they try their best to accommodate. I really love that I could get wine and pizza for dinner so I didn’t have to go out. Live music on the patio on the weekends overlooking the Columbia was just perfect after 10-12 hour days. Honestly though, the staff really cares about the customer experience and you don't find that often. This made the difference for me. They ensure cleanly rooms, being flexible, willing to share great info about the area like local guides would, working late hours or off hours to make sure situations are handled. They do this regardless if their manager or the owner sees them and likely they don't share that they went extra miles for the guests. Truly wonderful stay! Will definitely stay again!

Property has been renovated nicely and the view is great. Excellent location. Breakfast is good and the staff is pleasant and friendly. The only downside is the size of the room. We stayed in a Queen and I believe this was the smallest room I have ever stayed in the US. It lacked some things that I consider basic items for any motel room. There were no cups or glasses, no ice bucket, no coffee maker and no place to hang cloths. Even for one night I would not book this room again.

The only inconvenience was the only ice machine was located in the lobby, it wasn't a big problem but it would have been nice for it to be closer. The staff was very polite, I only needed help for a couple of things and they took care of them quickly. If I had to find a negative regarding my stay it would be the speed bumps on the road to the motel, I realize those were put in by the people who own homes on the road, probably because people drove too fast and they are very effective, you have to almost be stopped and ease over them or they will rattle your teeth.

The view of The Dalles Dam is nice. They had live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Pleasant surprise. Wine/beer for purchase.Breakfast was decent and rooms clean and comfortable bed. View from the room lacked even though we had the river side. I did use the single washer and dryer.
