I first came to this hotel and I thought this is the norm in Japan until I checked other hotels both in Tokyo and other cities. Not sure but this was the worst hotel by far. They charged premium but the condition was very bad. You get to choose 2 option for the aircon 1: super cold 2: just fan. I had to wake up in the middle of the night sweating to change to cold option. The cold option was also on timer. Bed was super small and I believe this hotel is 1 star. The money I paid was more than other premium hotels I was in. So I guess you just get a good location.

The room was small but you had everything yiu needed and there is an onsen on the top floor, ideal after walking around Tokyo. It would be nice if they provided more pillows/duvets as one pillow can be uncomfortable while sleeping.

Great place with smaller bathing area that other Dormy Inn's I've been to but very clean. It is located directly next to a Family Mart and the adjoining streets are shopping area with tons of small shops and restaurants. It can get very busy and loud during the evening rush, but the food options are plenty and excellent. Both JR Ueno and Okachimachi are within 10 minute walks and nestled in the shopping district is also a subway station entrance.

First Dormy stay. Cool concept/group. Great staff. Extensive Japanese breakfast. Guest laundry colocated with onsen area. Unlike most of Japan, neighborhood is actually fairly dirty with lots of street trash. That said, great restaurants, shopping of all kinds all around the hotel; and, location is superb for accessing transit throughout the city as well as for day trips via Ueno station, and, access to Ueno Park for green space and museums.

Very friendly staff, room was compact but well laid out, air-conditioning worked great during the heat wave, close to Ueno station and was able to get extra softer pillows. Laundry was convenient for a longer stay.

Good as always: * Location close to Okachimachi and Ueno stations for JR lines, and multiple subway lines. Many shops and restaurants within a 5 min walk. * Good breakfast with hot rice, natto, salads, scrambled eggs, homemade onigiri and more * Onsen on 12th floor although it is overcrowded if more than 3 people in there at once Bad: * Pillows too hard to sleep on. Last time I went to Reception they said they had no different pillows so I ended up just sleeping without * 1 lift for all floors which usually takes a while to arrive

Rooms were small. Got stuck in a smoking room with a small bed even though we booked for 3 people. They didn't have a futon to lend us either. But we made it work. 3 of us just had to cram in to a double bed. Bathing facility was small as well but clean and functional. Overall staff was nice and we had a good experience. The hotel location is gold. Its unbeatable. It's in the heart of one of the liveliest area. Walk out and in a few steps there are tons of food and shopping. Also like 2 min walk to the closest station. Will stay here again.
