The room itself was very small and the bathroom was the size of a small closet. It got the job done but, for the price, there are better options. The staff was very friendly, which is the one saving grace. If you don’t like confined spaces, this isn’t the hotel for you. Luckily I was just mainly using the hotel room to sleep at night as I was out most of the day exploring. I’m sure options for hotels with larger rooms are fairly limited (depending on the area of Tokyo you’re staying and the price you’re willing to pay) but out of all of the other 5 hotels that I stayed at during this trip, this is definitely lowest on my list for a return stay.

clean convenient to ueno station/park

close to ueno station, so made it easy to walk to the subway and jr lines. clean, fast wifi , best of all there is no step up or down to get into the bathroom.

It was a comfortable distance from Ueno Park and train station, as well as Senso-ji temple in the other direction. Pleasant and friendly staff and a more-or-less ideal room for a solo traveller.

Location convenient but no other strengths

WiFi connection was lost several hours before checkout - very inconvenient. The room is tiny - a suitcase cannot be fully opened. Some staff members do not seem to be hospitable - when I asked for storing luggage ahead of check-in time, the staff member initially could not find my reservation and her attitude was quite haughty. She was later able to retrieve the booking (she overlooked it) with my earnest request - but she gave an impression of reluctance to help and I felt uncomfortable as a traveler.
