This was a lovely stay in a beautiful traditional house.
Negatives first:
The bathroom could do with a new coat of paint, and the futon on the bunkbed was painfully thin.
However, so many positives!
Well cared for traditional home with authentic features like tatami floors, sliding doors, futons, trad bathroom plus modern electric toilet, well equipped kitchen
The owner (Himeno-san) was lovely and let me check in early which was very much appreciated, the other staff were friendly and chatty too. It's about 8minutes walk from OkudachugakkoMae station on the Portram line or 18minutes from main train station. Very quiet residential area with supermarket 3 minute walk away.
I had a lovely stay here, thank you!
The bedroom was too close to the proximity of the living room so I heard everything and everybody. And the futon was very thin without cushioning underneath so I basically slept on the floor.
The guesthouse is about 15-20 minutes walk away from the train station. There's one super mart within 3 minutes walk so it's convenient if you need to get something. The bed is clean and comfortable. As the size of the guesthouse is not too big, it's easier for you to talk to the people who also stay there. The only downside is the wifi connection get disrupted quite frequently so if you need internet connection it can be rather annoying.
