A wonderful building made into an excellent hotel. The food the staff all excellent, facilities also top notch. The only thing is that detracts from this hotel is the price, when looking to book for a special event we go to every year I find it has increased by 40%. That’s a shame as it puts this wonderful hotel out of reach for a lot of people.

Great hotel

Such beautiful tranquil settings in the Hertfordshire countryside. From the moment you drive into the long drive towards the hotel to arriving at the reception its so beautiful. The peacocks add a lovely touch and the garden setting was lovely on a nice warm summers day. The hotel smelled so lovely and fresh and the rooms was air conditioned and so cool upon arriving. Great shower amenities. I would definitely stay here again

Food in the bar and restaurant was excellent. Building is attractive and peacocks everywhere is fun. Appreciated the pool and sauna/steam rooms. Bed comfortable, room can be made cool and dark. Had an issue with our keys not working but they fixed it quickly. Wish breakfast and checkout ran a hour later. Would stay again.

Wish we had known before

The Room was at the back of beyond including stairs, lift and more stairs and last door on the left. Owing to a bizarre wedding on a Tuesday, wish we would have known this before booking as service was also very slack due to them paying much more attention to the wedding guests rather than any other guests not attending the wedding.

We loved our stay here. The hotel is a beautiful listed building with lots of character. The room was spacious and clean. We had great chats with Greg in the Shakespeare Bar, and Tye in reception was so helpful. We really enjoyed the variety at breakfast (hot buffet, fruit, pastries). The highlight was definitely the peacocks though! Walking around the hotel grounds was such an adventure with these stunning birds to admire. We will definitely be back to stay again!

I stay in many hotels for work throughout the year .. I cannot think of another hotel that’s so nice at a reasonable price . The place is lovely and quiet in a relaxing setting the rooms are spacious and super clean the shower is powerful and the complimentary toiletries are great quality , the rooms have tea coffee biscuits and bottled . The staff are really friendly and helpful
