UBC Hidden Jem

Gage is a great choice for staying close to UBC. It has the option to allow for cooking our own meals or going out. The location is walk-able to some great restaurants. I will look here first for my next stay in Vancouver.

Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The area is safe with a Tim Hortons close by. Easy car drive to Stanley Park and Capalano Suspension Bridge. Bus station less than five minutes away with transport to Vancouver city centre. Would certainly stay here again.

The room was HOT when I arrived. Tried the AC but right over the bed. So turned off. Fortunately a small window opened. Just didn’t feel like a $300+ room.

The pros: There was more to the room than I expected - had a kitchen fully stocked with dishes - lots of space. The bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly. The cons: the sheets werent in very good condition (stained) and there was only a shower, no tub. Also the check-in desk/reception was in a different building which was fine but just slightly less convenient all around. You'd need to leave the building to get any neccessities (such as a toothbrush that I forgot). Also not very soundproof. Overall though decent and close enough to UBC hospital...about a 10 min walk... I would stay there again.
