Booked property for 10 nights. 1st interaction with the host was him saying "I don't shake hands with people that wear those" referring to my mask. Everyone is allowed their own opinion but as someone trying to make a living off a rental property I'd suggest a more open mind, especially during a pandemic where the Ozarks is in the spotlight. You are a better person than the one I was introduced to that day, I know it.
We didn't use the cabin much other than a home base as we were out all day most every day, returning just to rest and sleep basically.
I asked about the A/C before we booked and got a short response stating that there was A/C. Seeing just one unit in the pictures should've been a good indicator at what we are getting into. We all know ONE A/C WINDOW UNIT is not sufficient for a MULTI-ROOM cabin in the heat of Missouri summers. Had this been one open space, studio style, then yes one A/C unit is fine but you get little air flow into the other rooms even with all the fans going. The kids room was a Sauna every night, even with the A/C running non-stop and two fans blowing into their rooms. Get two more units!
Don't walk around without shoes or you'll be left with dirty feet/socks. Dust bunnies in the corners, cobwebs/dust in the light fixtures and all around ceiling, definite spider infestation based on the many baby spiders we killed throughout the stay, ants show up once you start to have any signs of food out, MOLD in the corners of the tub and window sill in the shower.
The owners take the cleaning fee and clean the place themselves, which is FINE, but at least do a good job cleaning. It's a cabin in the Ozarks, so I don't expect perfection but basic cleanliness is nice. Bugs typically stay outside if you spray often inside and out
The big kicker, beyond the A/C, is there is no privacy or light blocking curtains in the bedrooms. The windows of the host property stare directly into the "second bedroom" and with no curtains on the slider and see through ones on all the windows you basically give everyone a nice show every time you change. The two dusk to dawn street lights really allow ample light into the cabin, even when trying to sleep. Yay! Pulls on the cabinets are wonky and loose. The dock they offer for your boat has no power, no cleats to tie down, and many boards are loose/coming up.
The good: The screened in porch, the lake and the location for us.
Eggs and Bacon don't make up for the other short-comings.
