What a beautiful property. Everything we could have hoped for. Close to the park, 30 minutes to the black beach. Biggest problem was no one wanted to leave. Highly recommend.
This beautiful property in Volcano Village is a truly enchanting escape, and we loved the stunning setting. The gorgeous home, patio, and gardens create a serene and private retreat thatâs perfect for unwinding. It's clear a lot of care went into creating a lovely, lush environment. To make this a true five-star stay, a few key updates would make all the difference. The beds need to be replaced with more comfortable options, as we found them to be quite uncomfortable. Additionally, the living room furniture is a bit dated and could use a refresh to match the high quality of the rest of the property. With a few simple changes to the furniture and mattresses, this already wonderful villa would be absolutely perfect.
The location was great for a visit to the National Park, and the lush surroundings were beautiful. We appreciated the pingpong table and hammock on the deck, the useable grill, and the puzzles and games. The house was clean and well appointed, but we felt that the amenities were a little skimpy. In particular, there was not much extra toilet paper or paper towel, and only a tiny bottle of dish soap. Also no extra bathtowels. The knives in the kitchen were so dull we could barely use them. The biggest drawback is that we were not allowed to use the washer/dryer, which would have been very helpful to a family with small children.
This house is beautiful and itâs in a lovely area. Lots of greenery (trees and shrubs) around and very private. Unfortunately we ran into a few problems. We tripped an electrical circuit which had the effect of shutting off the lamps in both bedrooms. We couldnât find the electrical panel anywhere so we were left without lights on our last night. I suspect it's in the locked closet along with extra toilet paper that you might need and other essentials. The next morning (our last) the gas stove wasn't working (it seemed that the gas flow was inhibited) so we couldnât cook anything that morning. We finally heard from the contact via the VRBO app after weâd left that we should have contacted the local person whose number had been provided in the welcome information and she would have been happy to help. There was no such contact information. It would have been helpful if there had been a book (or sheet) with details about the house and checking out, but no such luck. I wish I could say I would recommend this place, but I'm not sure I can.
Loved the ping pong table, games⊠had a great fire and enjoyed listening to the rain. We were there for the volcano eruption.. fantastic! Hosts very responsive.
This home is nestled into a rainforest jungle neighborhood. We were thrilled with the location, woke up to birds singing and leaves rustling. Loved the hammock and location to Volcanoes National Park.
A clean, well appointed home in a great location. This property is a destination in it's own right! The patio was great for taking in the beautiful mountain weather and pretty landscaping. The rooms were comfy and big. And the shared space was great for hanging out. Definitely recommend!
My list of complaints is pretty long - but it started at the gate. Evidentially it has to be closed at all times to keep the feral pigs and cows ( ? ) out but both sides of the gate are wide open. So why bother us about keeping the gate itself closed ???? It was a pain in the butt. Also, the fact that you had to reverse down the driveway then deal with the gate was stupid. They need to make it so you can turn around. The main thing is that every single rental I have stayed in at Volcano had a little book regarding what to do with the trash etc. This one just had random signs posted ( no smoking ) with no clear instructions on anything - especially the trash. The rental itself was okay - not great cause I felt like I was sleeping on someone elses dirty sheets ( Yuk ) I would not stay there again. The communication with the property management re: check in was literally non existent.
We loved this location, so near the national park as well as restaurants in Volcano. The atmosphere around the house was also amazing. So many plants that we never see on the mainland where we live. We did have one small problem which was attended to right away. I both recommend this and would come here again if I ever travel to Hawai'i again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kids loved the ping pong table and playground. We loved how private it felt and the Christmas decorations were a wonderful touch. We had some trouble getting in touch with the property manager related to a tripped circuit in two of the bedrooms but it didn't hamper our stay.
My family really enjoyed the beautiful and quite surrounding. It was clean, comfortable and well stocked with household supplies. Spent a lot of time on the lanai. Only a short drive to Volcano House. Had a visitor from the mainland who was thrilled to see our spectacular sites. Thank you for making our visit to your home delightful!
Beautiful, comfortable house. This area is low key, quiet, a quick drive to Volcano National Park. Very comfortable for our family of 7. Not too far of a drive from Hilo either. We loved this house and would definitely recommend staying there and would stay again. Denison to ownerâs reccs on weather. Rain can pop up quickly and can be a bit cool. But it is beautiful and one of our best memories from Hawaii.
Pros: Beautiful, bright property. Lovely home and front porch. Humid but dehumidifier is provided. Responsive host.
Cons: Wood-burning stove is the only heat source. Inexplicably, wood is provided for only one night. The wood sold at the local store was too wet to burn. Plenty of dry, cut wood is on the property, but it's off-limits to guests.
A totally immersive rainforest/volcano experience for our family to use as a quiet and private home base to explore the national park and the "rainy" side of the island. We saw kalij pheasants, wild pigs, and even a chameleon - and that was without leaving the town of Volcano. Would I stay here again and recommend it to others? Absolutely. Stop searching VRBO and just book it already!! It's just a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy nature.
We loved staying in this beautiful home in the rainforest. It was clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub, ping pong table and hammock were so fun to have and utilize with our teenagers. After our days of exploring VNP, it was nice to come back to this quiet home.
My family and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this beautiful property. The house and grounds were very well maintained and provided a wonderful oasis all our own! The proximity to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was perfect and allowed us to come and go as we wanted since it was so close. Communication with the owners was exceptional and they were very accomodating when we had to change our dates. We loved the hammock and ping pong table. Those two things were enjoyed daily by the whole family. I would absolutely stay here again on my next trip!
This place was great. Nestled among ohi'a and ferns, creating a sense of complete privacy and intimacy with nature. Waking up to native birdsong every morning was amazing. The fireplace was cozy. Beds were nice and firm. The ping pong table, games, playground, and puzzles, were perfect for us. Waking distance to the Sunday farmer's market. Very close to the national park. We loved this spot and would stay there again in a heartbeat.
