Yes it is rundown, but why on earth are you focusing on the decor and the floor tiles when you have one of the best views in the planet from your window?
The dinner buffet was world-class. The breakfast buffet was just ok. The staff is the best. Norwegians are nototiously cole

The hotel rooms are a bit dated but the location is amazing with beautiful views. Make sure you walk the closed Stalheimsklevia road just outside the hotel.
Anyone would be hard-pressed to find a hotel with a better view. It's just breathtaking! The hotel was gorgeous and historical. My only feedback would be that the rooms need some modernization.

Quaint hotel in beautiful location. Old but very well kept. Super nice and helpful staff. I would definitely stay again!
What an amazing area to visit. The hotel and property feel like you are living in a post card. The history and antiques are museum quality. Lovely staff, breakfast!
Amazing overnight stay at the Stalheim Hotel as a mid-point for our Norway-in-a-Nutshell tour. We absolutely loved the historic hotel. The lobby areas are wonderful for hanging out. Great service at the bar (as well as front desk and restaurant). We fell in love with the surrounding area - doing the hike to Nali and down the Stalheimskleiva winding road. Despite the age of the hotel, the rooms were very comfortable with nice showers and unbelievable views!
The view is FANTASTIC!!!!
The staff at check-in and in the dining room were cordial and friendly.

The view is spectacular! Historic museum was amazing, and the grounds are truly incredible. The rooms are very dated and basic. No amenities, no frills. Staff is lovely and the head mousekeeper (hotel kitty) is a delight! Stay for the view!
The view is outstanding and the hotel and lobby are beautiful. The antiques are wonderful and the museum tour was fabulous! Great food. We took the short King’s Road hike and it was fabulous! Connections to and from the hotel are well- coordinated however the 11:55 bus to catch the 1:05 Voss to Oslo train was too tight for comfort however we made it with 30 seconds to spare.

The location is tranquil and breathtaking. The restaurant was outrageously expensive and not very good at all.
We've stayed at Stalheim on two different trips, and we would certainly stay there again. The staff is very helpful. Both breakfast and dinner (buffet style) are wonderful. The hotel & mountain surroundings are gorgeous.

Stahlheim is taking full use of its scenic location with breathtaking views from every window. The room was clean and service very efficient. The buffet dinner is a must, at least once. We would stay there any time again.
