Ming has been a great host, on prior visits however, I had to ask for Check-in instructions twice before getting an answer. The condo is getting "tired". Torn uppostery, Dead Microwave, sliding doors and screens that had to be manhandled and forced open and shut. I reported the dead microwave on day 2... and was promised replacing it in a day or two... 10 days later, never heard another word.
Pros:Right on the beach, beautiful view from terrace. Quiet building. Great if you want to be out of the crazy city life. Grounds were well maintained, the staff maintained the area daily and super friendly.Renter responded in a timely manor to all needs. Check in and check out super easy. The beach the property sat on was not populated with homeless and it felt safe to sit at, you could surf the bigger waves and on calmer days were able to play in water. Cons: it is a longer drive out to the spot and most all tourist destinations and attractions. We knew this and wanted it however if youâre not expecting to be far away from everything it could be an issue. The slider doors to the terrace were messed up so difficult to slide one side open most times we couldnât get it open. The mattress was too stiff not a good mattress. Walking into the space, it appeared to not be as clean as expected for a rental we are paying for. There was dust every things in drawers. Inside drawers were dirty with substances one drawer was taped together as a fix for the drawer. The couch and chairs had stains and tears in the fabric and some of stuffing sticking out. (Didnât even want to sit on the couch). When we first got to the complex the outside smelled strong of animal urine and parts of the building did appear run down. Parts of doors and other areas missing or rust or water damage.for the price paid including all the cleaning fees and extras you would expect better.
We had an amazing 11 day stay. Room was perfect had everything we needed to do any cooking. Beautiful view of the beach and water. Sunsets from the beach were amazing. Loved how it was away from the main city. But stores were just a 5 min drive away.
Our second time there. We stayed 7 nights. It is a small efficiency but it is well equipped. We like the location and it is reasonably priced. Being just above the beach is great. Usually the beach is very quiet but there can be exceptions. Sunday of Labor Day week end, we had loud music below our window for the whole afternoon. At dark it stopped but it was replaced by an even louder music till about 11 pm. The next morning, music started further on the beach at 7 am.
Property is at a quiet and remote beach. Expect to drive a hour or more to most of the popular stuff on the island. Assigned parking space is nice, but it's on the basement level which is prone to flooding in storms so keep that in mind.
I had to reach out to the host the day of arrival because she did not send the check in instructions. Once I got a hold of her she sent them but I had issues opening the PDF she sent and she never got back to me asking for her to resend it. Luckily I was able to get it cleared up with VRBO but the host never checked. Reading other reviews communication can be an issue it seems.
Other than that the property was as expected, homelessness is an issue in that area and it can be loud at night but overall fine.
We enjoyed our stay. It was perfect for my husband and myself. We never did receive our check-in info prior to arriving, however as soon as I sent a message a response was immediately received with easy check in instructions and an apology. We have previously stayed on this side of the island so knew what to expect; travel times to other parts of the island. It is out of the hustle of Waikiki, which we appreciate. Great ocean views and access to the beach. Everyone at the complex were very nice; staff and local residents:)
This lodging has been very convenient for us. The description is accurate. The studio is well equipped. Shopping for food is not far, at Wai'anae. Communicating with the owner/rental agency prior to coming has been difficult.
