Communication with the host was great. My father had a medical issue beyond the refund window that stopped us from making the original reservation date, Owner allowed us to move our date out a couple of weeks. Everything was clean, the kitchen and dishes were clean. The bathroom was brand new. All of the beds were comfy and clean. I slept on the couch bed in the third room, it was firm and comfortable. It was a great location for us. We were originally from the area and went back to visit family in Latham and Cohoes. It is less then 10 minutes to Cohoes, Latham or Troy. less then 5 minutes to the food joints we loved, Gus's hot dogs and Teds fish fry. (hit both if you are in this area.) There's a grocery store right across the street, a Dunkin's across the other street. The area is rougher then it was when we left. but safe enough to walk to the Dunkin or store without worrying about anything. This is a first floor apartment of a two story home. I don't think the second floor was occupied as we did not hear anyone while we were there. The AC worked great. We didn't eat to many meals at the home but it had everything we needed to cook when we needed it. (not much in the cupboards in the way of spices but the basics were there. Plenty of pillows sheets and blankets. There is a backyard with chairs and a barbeque, but we never went out the backdoor.
This was my third time staying in the Watervliet Retreat. Like the prior two occasions, the space was spotless, had every amenity needed, and was very comfortable. This host has thought of every detail and has ensured everything goes smooth and superb for guests. I will definitely be back!
My husband and I traveled to the area for a long weekend with our college intern who there for the summer. The house was great! Everything was as expected and how the photos show. Communication was great with the owner. We didn't spend a lot of time in the neighborhood, but felt it was fine for what we needed. We also didn't use the kitchen but it seemed well stocked if you wanted to cook. There is only 1 bathroom, but it was adorable so that was ok! Things we did in the area in case someone is looking for ideas: Golfed 9 holes, did the top tracer in Clifton Park at Northway Golf Center, did the 1 1/2 hour Hudson river cruise, the casino in Schenectady, Funny Bone comedy club, spent a few hours in Saratoga Springs shopping and trying the mineral water (gross). Thanks again for the use of your home!
My son graduated from Sienna College on Sunday. Our family was ver comfortable. Three private cozy bedrooms. Central air made it very comfortable. The place is very clean and beautifully decorated. With all the comforts of home. Markos was a fabulous host. Thank You newly renovated.
Markos has made a well appointed tech savvy abode that should not be missed !! It is so close to food, drink and groceries - all VERY WALKABLE. I will definitely book here every time I am in town.
Our family of four needed to travel to Albany area for a family event and we are not fans of hotel rooms. The Watervliet Retreat was a perfect stay for our family. Literally within 15 mins of everywhere we needed to be, 3 bedrooms (1 of the bedrooms is a very comfortable pull-out sofa) with extremely comfortable beds. Extremely clean and well-presented. A supermarket within a few mins walk as well proved very helpful. Lastly, despite it being on what looked like a busy streetfront, the house was incredibly quiet and we did not hear road noise at all. In reading the other reviews, I did not notice the air-con/heater being overly loud..just normal noise that even my own house makes. Markos was very responsive and friendly if we needed to contact him. Our family was able to spread out, each teen had their own room, and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much to Markos and this property for hosting us!
Perfect property for more than the average 2 people in a hotel room.
Clean, quaint, adorable and a short few minutes drive from RPI. Area was safe with all the things we needed to make our stay comfortable.
The host was easy to reach and very responsive and amenable.
Very nicely renovated older home and kept very clean. Couches and bed were comfortable. The AC unit is fairly loud but it worked well. The immediate area is a little rundown but it didn't really feel unsafe. Very close to Dunkin donuts and a grocery store (walking distance) and there are a good amount of restaurants and bars within 5-10 minutes. Street parking isn't great but I was always able to find a spot nearby. The owner operates the place well and made themselves available if any issues or questions came up. I will definitely consider staying again next time I'm in the area.
