First of all, I have never ever heard of a Hotel room not having Aircon. I have travelled a fair bit in my life and never come across with a room with no AC. They offered us Fans (which were very dusty, could have cleaned it first). They also don't supply tissues (we have stayed in Lake Taupo in a Motel for 1 night, even this little place had aircon and tissues. We have emailed them at the time of the booking, that we require secure parking for a daily fee, well they didn't have any, we were told, first come first served, they have run out of parking spaces. They did not mention this at the time of booking. We had to park in Wilsons Parking (unsecured). Next morning I woke up to see a line of thick dust in the "headboard", had to ask them to clean it as it was right at my head. Bathroom very small, vanity had hardly any room to put a bag of toiletries down. For a bigger room, TV was tiny, no ability to log into any apps, as they didn't have any. Although the same chain in Auckland was a lot better, with this experience we will never book anything with Mercure. Terrible experience.
