Although i've stayed here before and I would stay here again. I must say that upon arrival, the staff was not as welcoming at the front desk. A lot seemed to be happening, and there was a lot of talking and mumbling, which for someone who's coming to kind of just relax, not getting the full attention of the staff at the front desk, it didn't feel unique. As we went into the room, the atmosphere and everything around us was definitely dated. Although the kids had a great time. I would definitely recommend renovating some of the areas in the rooms, upgrading some of the furniture as it was definitely worn and by the pool side, definitely adding possibly some quick finger foods and refreshment.

First time staying at The Colonies and we will definitely stay again next time we’re in Williamsburg. The property is nicely located near the outlets, supermarkets, and restaurants. The pools are great, just the right size to keep an eye on the little ones. And the rooms are spacious and clean, albeit dated. The couch in our room may have very well belonged to George Washington :) so I’d suggest they keep their furniture more up to date since many families use the living room space. Outdoor space for each unit was great for a morning coffee, and there is parking outside of each unit. All in all, a great stay, and we’ll be back.

Rooms are little outdated/could use some sprucing up. The outdoor pool area was great for the kids ans enjoyed the adults only hot tub. It was a little bit of a pain to get into the room as we had to scan through 3 doors and when your hands are full and have kids its an inconvenience.

Was a really nice place. Very spacious and had everything we needed. Never heard any of the other guests through the walls. Loved the huge walk in shower and jacuzzi tub in the 2nd bathroom.

I loved the idea of this spot, however; I do not think I will be back. Teenagers running around all hours of the night, yelling hitting things outside and doing too much. The rooms are big and nice, I would say the cleaning is alright. Not disgusting not perfect. There was mold all over the bathroom and jetted tub, I could smell as soon as I entered. There were very little staff who was actually helpful and professional. The evening staff seemed very unprofessional and were very focused on their own conversations rather than just checking us in. Wasn’t able to use the indoor or outside pool due to lightning (understandable) so I can’t properly judge the resort amenities.

Very nice clean spacious apartments. I do wish we were given the option of upstairs or downstairs. Lots of fun activities and areas for kids. Only thing i disliked was my interactions with the front staff. Upon check in everything seamed really serious and strict specially with all the fees on the form you have to sign. The lady in the front desk seamed very uninterested wouldn't make eye contact. when i asked a question about the form i had to sign she said "did i highlight that part only worry about what's highlighted". which wasn't the neatest so i just wanted clarification because of the strictness of the form. One thing being when getting towel at the pool it was stated you had to check them in and out or be charged a $25.00 fee. The towel boy was on his phone the whole time and when someone asked him about checking in and out he simply responded "its ok i see you". Another was check out was strictly at 10 or be charges $150.00 fee i think. when i went up to the front counter the lady didn't even ask my name barley even looked at me just said "put the keys in the box". I then proceeded to ask if i could get something with my check out time she cuts me off asked my room number and said "ok i gotchu" then proceeds to take a phone call. The only front office staff that was friendly was the lady who gave me my parking pass. She was offer the ppl in front of me some packages and she was very patient and informative with the older couple.

Just O.K.

Ok stay, 5 adults and 1 toddler. The pros: The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Both pools appeared clean. It was late May so the outdoor pool was freezing, expected. We stayed in Unit 119B, it was clean. The bedding was clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to meal prep. This unit is an end unit which meant no direct neighbors and is positioned against the woods, extra privacy! The Cons: This unit is dated. The furniture needs a major upgrade, the sofa is like sitting directly on the hideaway bed frame. The beds are extremely firm. The hidaway mattress is not much better than a camper mattress. Pillows provided are hit or miss, meaning you'll either have a bag full of feathers or a bag full of rocks. Suggest bringing your own. The comforters on the beds are old and very thin. This unit sleeps 6 but was only equipped to supply the two bedrooms with blankets etc. The master shower tile is worn and shows stained grout. Finally, this was a prior smoking unit and the smell is still detectable. We woke up each morning extremely congested. We had to have maintenance visit to fix the AC unit while there, which was an easy experience amd once the AC line was drained we had cold air! Overall an ok stay but not impressive enough to make us want to visit again. It served its purpose but not as "relaxing" as we'd hoped for on vacation.

Great property. I’ll stay again. There were a few minor issues like the door knob in the bathroom needed to be repaired and still fell off after maintenance came up to fix it. Also, the curtains in one area were hanging off track. Not anything major, but noticeable. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly.

You guys got it all wrong

My family and friends often meet here, two to three times a year to connect. This trip was much less that good, it was honestly horrible. Upon checking in the room was hot, we were told to give it some time, so we unpacked and left for a couple of hours and the room was even hotter. Call back and maintenance came over, tinkered and notified us, it could not be fixed and we would need to relocate. So now we are packing up to move rooms and of course there is zero help. Upon the last trip out we realized my granddaughter milk was left in the refrigerator and we left the keys inside as instructed. Once we got over to the new room we called and asked if maintenance could come open the door we were told no, we had to come get the key and then return the key after we retrieve the milk. No customer service or understanding, it was clear no one cared about what we were being put through at all. In the 2nd room as we started to attempt to just exist it was clear why the room was empty. Shower broken, drain for tub broken and would not hold water, no hot water, kitchen faucet broken, 2 pots in cabinet and no other cook wear, lamp in bedroom and the lamp in the living room broken, patio screen would not close so we could not open the patio door, mosquitoes galore. Maintenance came back to fix the shower and said they grab the wrong part for the kitchen and would be back, well it’s been 3 days and they never came back. I understand things happen, but this was past ridiculous!
