We loved the location of this property. The wrap around porch overlooking the water was amazing. The kitchen was equipped for what we needed and there was plenty of space to relax. The property itself needs some TLC. Many of the windows are inoperable and those that worked had screens that were in disrepair. The showers in the 2 bathrooms downstairs were not working properly. Mattresses were comfortable but could use mattress pads to cover up the stains. Maintenance crew responded quickly to a window that we could not crank closed.
This is a stunning home set on a breathtaking oceanfront property but needs serious repairs. When we arrived, it was hot and stuffy in the house and we discovered half the windows are inoperable with labels on them saying âDO NOT OPENâ. Most of the other windows had ripped screens so the bugs flood right in. Hard to get a cross breeze because even the floor fans were filthy; most of them are covered in dirt and dust, and one doesnât work. One of the showers comes out like a slow trickle and the other has a broken shower door. These were not the worst partsâŠThe kitchen did not have hot water. I got under the sink to turn it on and water gushed out of the pipe. It was clear this had been an issue for quite some time and has not been repaired. I contacted customer service and could only text with a chat bot that said a local repair person would reach out. I never heard from anyone despite multiple follow-up attempts. In fact, I wasnât able to contact anyone despite multiple attempts throughout my stay. Other important issues to note: The basement window is propped wide open without a screen, so itâs an open invitation to all kinds of critters. One of the large holding tanks of water has an open top so it may also contain dead critters floating in the water.I was hoping to scope this out as a potential spot for a bigger family trip, and would gladly return if these issues are resolved. Please start by assigning an actual human to help resolve maintenance issues!
We checked in no problem. We discovered shortly after 4 pm we had no water. I got in touch with Vacasa to inform them that we had no water. They said they would contact the local team and they would be in touch with us. This went on all through the evening with the same response except they always asked if there was anything else they could help us with.. At 10 pm we turned in with no water the last message from them was the local team would contact us in the am. We heard nothing from the local team. I again contacted Vacasa in the am and complained with the response the local team would be in Touch with me. Around 10:30 am a nice man showed up to fix the water issue which only took him 5 minutes. He said It was the first he had heard from Vacasa just before he came over. He left us his personal number if we had anymore issues. We loved the house but I would hesitate to rent any properties Vacasa manages
THIS HOUSE USES WELL WATER. IF THE WELL RUNS DRY...YOU HAVE NO WATER...WHICH IT DID TO US! THIS MEANS NO BATHROOM! THE VIEWS WERE OCCULDED BY TREES, CUT SOME DOWN. ONLY ONE HAIR DRYER FOR 3 BEDROOMS. ONE LIGHT SWITCH WAS EXTREMELY HOT.
GORGEOUS house and view! Very spacious and accommodating. Things you should know before booking is that it is about an hour away from anything and everything. House could use some more TV's if you're going with children, pinball machines did not work and neither did "workout equipment" which was an elliptical and treadmill. One of the showers did not work and some of the fans that were provided did not either. I think its a tad over priced for its distance to do things but the views from the deck were amazing.
Beautiful views. House was very nice but had some trouble trying to unlock the door.
Had on the site there was a beach. Whereâs the beach? I didnât see any beach. There were just large boulders.
The property was absolutely beautiful and very well supplied with kitchen supplies, as well as towels, etc. The issue was getting into the property. door did not work. We got into the house through the garage, which was left unlocked The water was not hot. taking a shower was lukewarm at best. the doors were extremely difficult to open. There were two sets of instructions for leaving, one was on your site. The other was printed out and left at the property. You need to have just one set of instructions that agree. Fabulous property, however it needs more outdoor seating. it sleeps 10 however, they were only 4 chairs on the deck. The views were awesome, very quiet and peaceful.
The views from the house were spectacular! However, we were without hot water for 2 days. The property mgmt team was lax in getting this problem rectified. In addition, it was mentioned the pinball machines, elliptical and treadmill didn't work and there were issues with some of the lights flikering or not working at all. These problems weren't addressed while we were vacationing at the house.
Great views. House pretty clean & supplies were fine except only 3 coffee cups for 6 adults. VACasa said they would get more cups. They failed, never received. Some lights didn't work & lots of dead bugs in light fixtures.
The views were beautiful and it was a quiet place to relax, but we were otherwise disappointed with our stay. The property was not well maintained. We encountered two roaches. There were numerous ants in the master bathroom. Two of the toilet paper holders had fallen off the walls and had not been replaced. Only one light in the kitchen worked (a known maintenance problem that was not disclosed to us before our arrival) and the non-functioning lights were not repaired while we were there. Two light fixtures could not be turned all the way off and were constantly on dim. The two exercise machines downstairs could not be used because any use resulted in the electrical circuit tripping. Many windows were not operable or labeled as do not open.
The property in Westport was wonderful. Located right on a large river connecting to the ocean. Lots to see from the wraparound deck looking out over the water.
The home was spacious and well-appointed. Kitchen had everything we needed as well as high end appliances.
A nice unusual feature was two vintage pinball machines in the lower level of the home.
We would definitely rebook this property if we travel to the Boothbay Harbor/Wiscasset area again.
The staff was a fabulous. We needed the manager because we couldnât unlock the door or lockbox. Many light bulbs needed to be replace, a bedside lamp was missing, the hairdryer was gone, and the tv would only play Netflix.
This big, light filled house is located on a beautiful, isolated, peninsula on Westport Island with amazing views of the Sheepscot River. But, and it is a big BUT, the house is being neglected. It is a terrible shame to see this happen because it is an amazing house. My biggest problem is the odor coming from the kitchen. I believe it is the drains/traps/septic. The odor is so bad, that I had to keep windows open to even stand near the sink. The place is very clean, but I would not stay here again because of this. Both oven doors are broken, which is a shame because they are high end appliances. Many of the windows and even more screens need repair. Don't get me wrong, the windows and doors provide an amazing, view, but they need help.
Spacious home beautiful area needs minor attention
Home needs some minor attention to get that 5th-star. Primarily lights and doors. So many switches, none are labelled and many seem to do nothing. Very few of the outside lights work. We arrived late to a completely dark home. Later found the only front light that works is on the garage, but controlled by a switch above the kitchen sink! Struggled with the front door entry and had to enter through a back door. Later found the front entry requires turning the key all the way counter-clockwise, with extra push on the key, holding it in that position while pushing open the door. The lower floor back door has a similarly difficult process that took several days to figure out. Instructions would have been nice. The home was clean, but mold behind bathroom sinks and in showers could be easily eliminated with a bleach spray. Since the home does not have A/C, use of windows is necessary, but many windows had broken screens, shades, or opening mechanisms. We used those that did work and it sufficed. The home is spacious and had everything we needed. We did enjoy our stay. The view is beautiful and the environment very peaceful.
A beautiful home with hardwood and slate floors throughout, high end kitchen (subzero frig), large rooms, and ocean views from nearly every room. The rocking chairs on the porch are the best spot to enjoy the view. The family room and table are large, ideal for families. The vintage pinball machines in the basement were a surprise treat! There are timeless granite steps down to water with solid railing.
Several windows, about a third, are rotting, don't open (labeled as such), or don't close. We opened one (not labeled other wise) and it about fell off. When it later rained, I had to go outside and try to close it some to keep rain from entering the house. As such, the house is left unsecured and exposed to the elements.
Great space in an amazing location BUT needs a good cleaning and repairs.
Amazing location with great views of the water all around and stone steps leading down to the watersâ edge. No traffic noise, just the sound of the waves (and seals) at night. You can watch lobstermen pulling pots from the front deck and practically every room. Plenty of space for our family to spread out and we spent a lot of time just sitting on the deck enjoying the quiet and the ocean. We didnât mind the lack of personal decorations, but there were a few things about the property that were less than ideal â the first was the cleaning. It was clear walking in that the property had not been cleaned. Floors, surfaces and bathrooms were dirty with remains of soap and debris from prior renters still present. While we donât expect the cleaners to look at every dish, when the top one is greasy or drawers/cabinets still have food remnants present it feels like the cleaning crew should have noticed. The other thing is that two of the sets of bedding werenât well laundered (being kind here) and had hair and sand in between the sheets. There is laundry on site so we were able to correct the problem. The other thing is the building itself, while beautiful, needs some investment â the windows are all casement style with retractable screens and 50% or more of them didnât work at all or required some additional manual help to get opened or closed. Not a huge deal but for a luxury property youâd expect more of them to be working. All in all Iâd say weâd probably stay again especially if we had a large group â itâs not a quick drive to Boothbay Harbor (we were in town for an event there) but close enough to be pretty manageable. Get your groceries on your way in, itâs a bit of a hike back to the store.
We chose this home for the views and were not disappointed. We watched harbor seals and bald eagles from the porch, listened to the waves crashing along the rocks, and enjoyed beautiful sunsets and sunrises.
The home itself is lacking a bit, like other reviews state, in terms of decor or other amenities. There is some unused space that could improve the overall atmosphere. The home is a bit out, but we knew that going in (to get on the shoreline). The road is a bit curvy and then unpaved, and I also wouldn't travel it at night. The one night we were delayed returning, we found ourselves going very slow to avoid deer, dogs, and other wildlife.
The hot water would run out with our family of 7, so we scheduled showers as needed. Water jugs were supplied for drinking and we purchased additional for coffee and travel.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this location. It was very quiet and allowed us to relax for the week. The wifi was sufficient when I had to perform some work tasks. I would recommend to anyone who is open to driving a bit back into the small towns along the coast for an adventure.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and in Maine. We had a few issues which were attended to quickly. The rental team was incredibly responsive, especially since it was over Christmas. It's a beautiful and quiet setting and pretty well equipped for a large-ish group.
A little off the beaten path but setting and water views from Kehail point are well worth it. Quiet, serene, beautiful. Perfect escape from our otherwise crazy lives.
