Can't fault this property as a family friendly get away. It had lotse of space for the adults and kids inside the house. The outside grounds are extensive to say the least, loads of space for the kids and dogs to play. The pool is a real bonus even for the crazy ones at the end of October!

Byecross has the WOW factor! It's a beautiful family home, sympathetically furnished and decorated to its 1920s build. Could do with a lick of paint here and there, but with lots of little ones running around it took the edge off worrying and you could just let them play in peace. The garden is amazing too!Indoors and outdoors there are games for all ages! Great fun! We spent most of time just enjoying the house, garden and beach just a few minutes walk down the road.Then Sunday we had a BBQ after another swim in the pool as the sun was out, was perfect. Table tennis played, when the weather wasn’t great, football, tennis and just enjoying the grounds when weather was okbrilliant.Thanks Elizabeth and Barry for making your house available and giving such a welcoming feel to it. Cannot recommend this beautiful property enough.

A very welcoming spacious house in a huge secluded garden. We very much felt at home here immediately and particularly liked the quiet and tranquil atmosphere. The host checked in with us to see if everything was ok and had provided helpful notes about the house. This is an ideal house for a large family get together as there’s a lot to keep children amused including a pool, bikes, a beach you can walk to and a large garden and play area. We particularly liked the grape vine covered pergola with seating underneath which you could light up at night. We would definitely like to come back here as there are lots of things still left to explore on the island.

Amazing house and grounds, perfect for 7 adults, 4 children (ages 1 thru 8) and a dog. Has everything you could need for a short to long stay, managed to get use of the swimming pool on the Saturday, was fresh, but can imagine the summer time it being spot on. Communication with the hosts was detailed and accommodating, highly recommended.

Byecross is a beautiful house in a beautiful setting and have loved our time there. The home is very welcoming and this is also reflected in the hosts fantastic communication. Outside space offers so much more than anywhere else I’ve stayed and means you never need to leave property as all there. A beautiful property which made for a perfect stay for 11 of us celebrating 5 teenagers GCSE results. Whilst we all made good use of the pool for hours each day, we also loved having the Tennis court, table tennis, play area, bikes and beach equipment, all of which got some use.The grounds are lovely, with lots left to wilding which meant there were an abundance of bees in and out of the hives which were also (carefully) visited by a number of us. In the evenings we made use of the projector screen, board games and the large piano. In isolation, any one of these things could make for a lovely stay but when put together they made it near perfect. The owners even called us mid-stay to check that everything was OK!

Perfect stay

We stayed at Byecross as a group of 10 with ages ranging from 9 to 77. Fabulous stay in a fabulous property with fabulous hosts. The Aga was fine to use and actually makes the best toast! If you are planning to stay at Byecross I would recommend doing a bit of research on how to use an Aga before arriving, and also plan to spend at least a couple of days at the property without going out anywhere as there really is so much to do and explore just on the property grounds and the surrounding area (including a lovely moody little beach just a short walk away).

Brilliant

This is the second time we have stayed at this lovely house which is perfect for our extended family. We certainly hope to return. The house is spacious and very generously equipped. Wonderful house for a family get-together.

We spent 5 excellent days over Christmas, creating some wonderful memories. This was the second time we stayed here, with the added excitement of families together at Xmas. The house is large so plenty of space for everyone. All beds very comfortable Extensive gardens, and all kinds of outdoor games and outdoor equipment for all ages. Take your microwave as this helps a lot to supplement AGA cooking if you’re not used to cooking on one!

fantastic family holiday

Twelve of us stayed at Byecross for a family birthday celebration. It was the perfect place for all ages, with loads of space and plenty to do. The children had a fantastic time rushing from one activity to another, including swimming every day (in late October/November!), tennis, paddle boarding, trampoline. We only managed to drag them away twice, to visit Carisbrooke Castle and eat a very good meal at the New Inn in Chalfleet. Would all love to come again!
