Family friendly feel. Great customer service. Central to everything. Walk anywhere. No air conditioning but weather was great. Hotel provides a fan. But slept with the window wide open and it was fine. I didn’t mind. Perfectly safe to do so. To access the main lobby, you have to climb a full flight of stairs with your luggage. I also did not mind. But some may have an issue with it. I would certainly stay there again.

Great location in the square and very close to many cool spots. Old Town has charm, and is a short walk (5 mins) to the new town area. If you have a car, parking is a bit challenging, but fairly close by.

We didn't do the breakfast. So we didn't require much staff attention. But there was always a greeter at the desk. Tiny bedrooms - very European vibe. Great location. For the price - if breakfast was included it would get the full 5 stars.

Great location in the old town area. Walkable from the main train station and many dining options around the area. The only thing is that there’s no ac since none of the old buildings in the old town area have ac, so it can get pretty hot in the room.

the location of the hotel is great. right on a nice square with plenty of restaurants right outside. (shame we could not eat at any of them as Switzerland is so expensive and our aussie dollar makes it even worse. not that this is the hotels fault of course). our room was very basic but we only stayed for 2 nights so you make do.

Quaint Hotel in the Middle of Everything…but…

This is a quaint hotel right on the street in the middle of everything in Old Town (oldest hotel in Zurich). But with that comes a few things to be aware of: 20 stairs to climb to get to the lobby. Tough with big luggage. 2. No air conditioning, just a table top fan. Beware if you go in the hot season. 3. Room is very small (#502). I know there are some big rooms ( ones ending in “1”), but we didn’t have it. All things considered, nice place to stay for only one or two nights.

We were not greeted warmly at all - the receptionist was unfriendly and very abrupt in his manner. The check in process was slow, manual and antiquated and overall we were not made to feel welcome.

Lively area with lots of great food options. The staff is wonderful, and there is a dog cafe on the rooftop. Breakfast was excellent. There is no ac so it was quite hot: would definitely return, though.

The location of the hotel is nice. However, the price of the rooms does not reflect the hostel-like environment of the property. Felt like I was in a cheap dorm room with minimal amenities. Also did not feel very secure as the front desk where our keys for the rooms were stored was often unattended and easily accessible.

Convenient location - very close to both the lake and the train station, right in the heart of the Old town. Two things to keep in mind - there is a flight of 20 stairs before you reach the elevator level - which is an issue with suitcases; since it faces the main square where a lot is happening during the summer - it is extermely noist until 2 am - I suspect this may not be an issue outside of te summer season. Very clean.

The hotel was fine and the people were friendly. My ratings are based on the lack of air conditioning. It was really really hot and sleeping was difficult even with a fan. It was an unusual heat wave but if you are going to Zurich in the summer just keep in mind that this hotel is not air conditioned.
