I eagerly booked this property on August 25, 2003, in anticipation of a special occasion in Alexandria scheduled for October. My family and I planned to celebrate the dedication of a historical marker in honor of my great-grandfather, Charles F. Page, a pioneer in aviation who built the world's first airship. However, on the check-in day, Thursday, October 5th, we were left in the dark as we never received any notifications from the property owner. Despite multiple attempts to contact him at 3:15, 8:30, and 9:00 pm, we received no response.
After finally reaching out to VRBO customer service, we were shocked to learn that the owner had given our reservation away to a long-term guest, leaving us without a place to stay at 9:30 pm on what should have been the beginning of a beautiful weekend. This unprofessional and unexpected turn of events forced us to make last-minute hotel bookings, incurring several hundred dollars in additional expenses. While VRBO assured us of a full refund, I cannot recommend this property to anyone based on this unfortunate experience.
