Beautiful property with wonderful views. Didnât have any issues prior to or during our stay. Host was very friendly and available if an issue had come up. Having a young child it was great that the picnic/firepit area was away from the water. Just two things to know but didnât diminish the experience at all1) you do have to bring your own water for cooking and drinking 2) the kitchen did lack bakeware/some kitchen items (cookie sheets, casserole dish, pitcher type stuff) if you plan on making most meals at the cabin as we did you may have to get creative. Overall, we had a wonderful time and definitely would recommend!
Cozy updated cabin overlooking a beautiful clean pond! Two decks and swimming platform! We found everything perfect and had a great stay! And the Loons!
We just loved this camp, directly on Barkers Pond. For us, the direct lake access, with available kayaks was the draw but since our first day was rainy, we really appreciated this updated cabin, it was so comfortable staying in for a day. Thankfully, the weather was perfect for the next couple days of our long weekend getaway..Highly recommended!
Our family of 5 (parents, 2 teens and a tween) made the trip from Texas to Boston, then drove up to this gorgeous cabin on Barkers Pond.
It was the most magical, lovely setting and a perfect getaway/ending to our vacation. The cabin was perfectly suited for our family, and had all the amenities we needed for fishing/grilling/cooking/swimming. The kids and adults all spent hours on kayaks and fishing by on the gorgeous pond, and the water was perfectly clear and comfortable (July).
We loved being so close to several towns which made it easy to day trip out and be back in time for some swimming/sunset views.
** This turned out to also be perfect because we all decided we are lake vs beach peopleâŠwe were able to go to several nearby beaches but not have to commit to staying constantly sandy etc **
The owners, who live next door/on site could not have been more friendly or easy to work with! It felt like we had friends nearby, but at the same time we had all of the privacy and space that we could want or need.
10/10, we all agreed that this was our favorite vacation and we can be wait to come back. So thankful we found this amazing place!!
Property was beautiful and quiet location. The cabin was nicely furnished and had everything we needed. Enjoyed morning coffee sitting on the deck on the pond watching fish jump from the water. Would definitely recommend.
We had an amazing time at the cabin. Was just as advertised and was just so much more beautiful in person. Right on the water and the view was just breathtaking. 100% recommend.
We loved our long weekend at the lake camp! It was the perfect home base for a few people in our group who were doing the MS Ride in Biddeford. We swam in the lake, went kayaking, sat around the firepit, and enjoyed the views from the lovely wall of windows. The owners could not be nicer, and even gave us fresh eggs from their chickens! We would recommend this lake camp to others. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We had a wonderful week relaxing with nature. The cabin was so rustic and cute and was clean from top to bottom. We had a peaceful week swimming and kayaking on the pond, and enjoyed hearing the loon and seeing the hummingbirds.
If you are looking for action and excitement with all the bells and whistles, this is not the place for you!
The cabin's setting is peaceful and relaxing. Although there are other cabins close by, we never heard any noise from them. My granddaughter loved talking to the chickens and looking for eggs in the mornings. My grandsons loved diving off the dock and swimming in the pond.
The cabin was well stocked with every kitchen convenience and the host provided toiletries in case you forgot to bring them.
The hosts were available, responsive and thoughtful.
We would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The outdoors and view was amazing. But the cottage had a bad mice infestation. The first day we arrived. There was a mouse in the room and emails trap. So the owners knew that there were mice because there was a mouse trap. Throughout this day, more mice were in the home, climbing up and down the walls and running around the house nonchalantly. the bathroom smelt like a urinal and the water just kept running nonstop. The cottage was not as clean as it should have been before we arrived, and they were crumbs upon our revival on the counter. Not to mention it was extremely hot with no air circulation and no AC. We had to leave a day early because the mice infestation was so bad.
I would classify this as a basic hunting cabin that would be fine for men using it only to sleep. I was highly disappointed with the unfinished walls and ceilings, bed frame of twin bed in front room creaked horribly when you laid on it, and shower curtain didn't keep the water in the shower so we had to lay a towel on the floor so it won't ruin the wood. The lake view was nice, the fire pit was nice, and the quiet location was nice. I have the same concern another review had that there is no way this place would pass inspection for living standards or being a rental. The communication with the owners was easy and they were quick to respond. I wasn't happy that I had to supply all water for drinking except for the 6 bottles in fridge. For the prices you pay to stay at VRBOs, I don't expect to have to supply my own water. I was sick when I first walked in and saw the place. If it wasn't June in Maine and hard to find other places, I would have changed locations. It is tolerable but it wasn't enjoyable.
On a beautiful and serene Maine pond
True Maine camp
Could not ask for better VRBO hosts
The camp was excellent and as described
We fished, kayaked, and enjoyed our chipmunk visitors
Pond spring fed and crystal clear but a bit cool still lol
Penelope and Peter so wonderful to deal with
We will be back
Thank you again for a wonderful vacation
We are a family of 5. Two adults, with kids 20, 17 and 13. All loved this stay.
Our hope was for a relaxing cabin stay on a picturesque lake in Maine. We found exactly that and more! The cabin and views are beautifully rustic and felt like home right away. Be sure to schedule 4 or more days so you have time so soak in the cabin, lake, swimming, fishing, hammock and campfire. Itâs all working a short drive of great restaurants and shops.
Penelope and Pete were gracious and helpful hosts. You can rent from them with confidence. We fully recommend.
The cabin vibes and lake view is something you need to see in person. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to kick back and relax on a Pond with peace and quiet.
What a beautiful stay, so peaceful and relaxing! Watching the mist drift across the pond as a Bald Eagle and a few Heron's show their presence while being serenated by the local Loon was so awesome.
Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us!
This is a really charming rustic camp with great amenities. And it's on a pristine small pond with no motor boats! We got to enjoy the resident loons, a kingfisher and osprey fishing on the pond while we were there. The property is an old camp, which was exactly what we wanted, and the owners have ensured it has all the amenities: a fully stocked kitchen, a huge TV with multiple streaming services (not used by us, but welcomed by many), fire pit, kayaks and a canoe, and even binoculars to keep an eye on the local wildlife. You feel like you're deep in the woods even though you're 20 minutes from some of the best seafood and beaches on the coast.
The house needs an inspection for a certificate of occupancy. exposed wires on bedroom walls (no interior walls) light bulb uncovered over shower and fire alarms not installed on ceilings.
Our family of four could not have loved this cabin or pond more! We had plenty of living space, and everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable was already in the cabin. The swimming dock and kayaks kept us busy- and we ended up spending much more time at the cabin that we originally planned. All four of us are looking forward to returning next summer!
