It looked like whoever the property owner is doesnât take care of his house/property. It was decent for the price but the whole house looked like it was going to fall apart (inside and outside).
We loved how remote we felt, even with surounding neighbors on most side views in the windows. The cozy cabin was clean and it felt like home as soon as we walked in. Everything was well maintained and for a first timer in Alaska and renting a cabin, we were really impressed. Would recommend highly. Probably the only dificulty was getting the key from the lock box, we had to play with it a little bit. But I guess thats a good thing. We werent prepared enough to bring blankets so we used the one duvet from the bed whenever we used the living room, or found other ways to stay warm :) but the heater was great and TV had easy screen share to your phone which was nice!
Nice small, rustic cabin. Nice furnished, and recently redone kitchen and bathroom.
The loft space access is not for anyone with mobility issues but worked fine for us.
Would stsy again.
Overall the cabin is a cute, quite, cozy getaway. Loved the fireplace and the open loft style feel, private and really enjoyed it. One of the first issues was when we arrived, the drive wasn't plowed, only the stairs and a few feet shoveled. When booked it said firewood provided, none was there when we arrived. When I called they said they don't provide wood but different booking sites say different things and Expidia is one that advertises falsely. They apologized and said they would reimburse but but still waiting to see that go though.
Our comforter was durty and smelled like sour milk, unfortunately we didn't notice until the morning. When we went to sleep it was hot in the cabin after having a fire so we only used the top sheet. In the middle of the night when it cooled down we pulled on the comforter and woke up smelling like sour milk. I called right away to let them know and thankfully the cabin had a washer and dryer and they did provide detergent so I was able to wash all the bedding. Doesn't make for a fun first morning, let alone having to wash the bedding when we had a full day planned. The ice maker was broken, some of the cups had coffee drippings down the side and dirty so had to wash some dishes prior to using.
I hate writing negative things I'm only writing in hopes that someone would see this and make sure proper cleaning and washing is done. We would love to stay here again and probably will seek it out as long as some positive changes are made.
Was fine for a night but be aware there are no doors in the bedrooms so no privacy if you have little ones, guests, or a partner who wants to sleep while others are not. Nice lounge/family room but no firewood for the fire. Outside the house is run down and deck is very slippery when wet. Be aware that there is another house that shares a deck/entry/parking with this rental. It was not an issue for us but potentially could be based on other reviews. Bathroom was nice and there is a full kitchen. Would have been nice to have some sugar to put in the coffee/tea. Worth considering for the price!
I loved this place and will come again. My complaint is silly, it was too fragrant. I could have done without the smell of cleaning products that I could taste in the air. We are from Homer, so blame it on the hippie vibes.
We wish that there was better ventilation as well ; we couldnât get the ceiling fan to work.
We will be back!
This is not a secluded cabin in the woods. I needed three weeks of seclusion and rest. What I got was more anxiety and less sleep. The pictures are deceiving... There is a second smaller cabin that shares a deck, and I was treated to the ongoing late-night partying of the occupant. OFTEN! Quiet hours are supposed to be between 9pm and 6 am and there were frequent visitors coming and going at midnight. The deck rattles so I heard their clomping. I was highly annoyed. If I had known that I would be so close to another, I never would have stayed here. On one occasion one of the weekend visitors opened my door and tried to walk in. I had to casually and almost comically send him to the other cabin. I reached out to the property manager, and they did not return my complaint for six days. Their response was that they cannot control the behavior of others.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. I felt deceived. The full-size kitchen, while one of the most attractive elements of the cabin was, sadly, not enough to make up for the anxiety I felt on a daily basis wondering when they would be coming back. On my last night in the cabin, they weren't there. By midnight, I thought, "Thank God! I can get some rest." Nope. 2:30 am, here they come, clomping up the stairs.
Can't wait to get home to get some sleep. Will never return.
We were here on vacation from Montana. Check in was very easy, beds comfortable, kitchen was handy and washer and dryer were a great service! Home is older and does have that "old house smell" when you first walk in. A nice spot to land for a couple of days!
