Plage privĂ©e sur le lac Lower Herring, plage de sable, dĂ©barquement progressif, quai privĂ©, 2 nouveaux kayaks, 2 nouveaux paddleboards, nouveaux gilets de sauvetage, nouvelle TV HD 42 ", accĂšs par bateau ou 1. 3 miles en voiture de la belle plage privĂ©e sur le lac Michigan. C'est une plage immaculĂ©e, privĂ©e et peu dĂ©veloppĂ©e sur des kilomĂštres, avec des dunes qui se fondent dans les forĂȘts. C'est comme Sleeping Bear sans les gardes du parc ou les frais. Jamais une foule et souvent jamais personne. Des kilomĂštres de plage ont Ă©tĂ© sauvĂ©s du dĂ©veloppement par la famille Noble grĂące au Watervale Inn. Nous louons uniquement Ă  la semaine en juillet et aoĂ»t. Nous avons Ă©galement une maison sur l'eau 3 portes au nord, qui peut accueillir 10-12 personnes, VRBO 370427.
Nous sommes Ă  un quart de mile de forĂȘt de la route goudronnĂ©e, trĂšs calme et paisible. La cabine a un porche grillagĂ©, une cheminĂ©e, une cuisine complĂšte mais pas de lave-vaisselle, 3 chambres, 2 reines et lits superposĂ©s jumeaux, 2 lits jumeaux roulants. Murs en pin Ă  rainure et languette, grande cheminĂ©e, vues incroyables. TĂ©lĂ©vision par satellite, Roku, Wifi, bois de chauffage, deux kayaks, deux planches Ă  pagaie et un canoĂ« inclus plus un gril au propane.
Regardez les couchers de soleil parfaits sur les deux lacs. Nous sommes Ă  6 miles au sud de Frankfort, Ă  5 miles au nord d'Arcadie.
Le lac Herring se connecte au lac Michigan via un ruisseau peu profond et sablonneux directement Ă  travers le lac.

Overall, the property was nice. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't in our favor to take advantage of the lake amenities. We did however enjoy the quiet neighborhood aside from some late-night music. The cabin itself was cozy and clean. The bed on the lakeside was a little too firm for us. Linens and pillows were comfortable. The description tells of a new 42" tv I believe. It definitely is not 42" and the sound quality was rough. The kitchen stove is not gas. If you plan to cook bring your own pans. The frying pans are all warped or peeling. Made it a little tough to make our breakfast. There is no firewood for the inside fireplace. We did purchase some from a local roadside. Turned out to be too wet. Some instructions for the fireplace would be handy. Couch was super comfy. Water pressure was great. Place was clean. Great location. Made it easy to travel all around Frankfort, Traverse, Arcadia, Manistee. Lots to see on M22!

Beautiful property right on the lake; we loved the location. The door lock was broken so the owner needed to come over and give us a key and he showed up quickly, within half an hour. The paddle boards were great. We paid a good price to rent this cabin... Although I know that this is a 70 year old property I believe that a more thorough cleaning would have made a huge difference and perhaps replacing some of the worn out items (carpets, screens) would be in order.

Perfect location for biking and kayaking. You are 5 minutes from Arcadia Dunes with great single track biking loops through the forest. The cabin is lake-front and you can kayak across the lake through a stream, right out to Lake Michigan. The cabin had everything you need: a fire pit, chairs, kayaks, paddle boards, laundry, full kitchen. Wonderful get-away!

This is a great old-fashioned cabin. The living room is more spacious than the posting shows, and now has a comfy sofa and loveseat. Great location and good sailing lake. Nice birding opportunities.

Wonderful Property, Terrific Host

I booked a short stay, spur of the moment, and Peter was very kind and accommodating. He made the whole process extremely easy. The cottage is great! It sits right on Lower Herring Lake, so I had terrific views and complete lake access. The cabin is nicely appointed and has a spacious living room, and a very comfortable, cozy bedroom. The kitchen contains everything you need for your stay and the washer and dryer on the back indoor porch is an added bonus. I will be back!

Exceeded expectations!!

We had an amazing time during our stay at Peter's cabin. Cute cabin, on the lake, surrounded by trees. Beautiful scenery, something out of a movie. Perfect location on the lake for our 2-year-old. Private sand area by the dock in front of the cabin. The water is only about 1-2 feet deep until the end of the dock which was perfect for our son to play in. Happy we were on Lower Herring as it was calm enough for us to get in the water every day. Loved access to the private beach at the Watervale Inn. When we went, we were the only family there. White sand and blue clear water. The location of the cabin was perfect. Easy 10-minute drive to Frankfort, Empire and about 15 minutes to Bealuh. We will most definitely be back. We were also allowed an early check in and late check out. Peter was very responsive and a great host.

Excellent stay

Reading the reviews, I thought the place would be dirty and brought cleaning supplies. It was not dirty at all, very clean. Some elements were worn, but it’s not advertised as brand new so I was expecting older. All major appliances worked great. The owner helped us find a small sunfish boat on the lake, which was very kind. He responded promptly to our requests, and sorted out one issue we had. The views are perfect and the amenities of all the kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards was a major draw for us - they were all in good working order. Plenty of life jackets and paddles. We used every boat at least once, and not one had issues. Noise around us was low, evenings were pleasantly quiet.

Lovely Location

Had a great time, this is a wonderful property and a charming old cabin with a pleasant owner. Only complaint came from my elderly parents who found the beds old and uncomfortable and sagging in the middle. Loved the location on Lower Herring, great trails nearby.

Rustic with a View

We love Lower Herring Lake and the whole surrounding area. We rented this property because a member of our group was doing the Frankfort Iron Man so the location was ideal. Peter was very prompt in answering calls with questions and help getting into the cabin. The cabin is directly across from “ the cut” access to one of the most beautiful stretches of Lake Michigan you can find. That said, be prepared for a rustic stay. I did spend some time cleaning surfaces and sweeping away thick spider webs from the outside windows. The doors are tricky but expected due to the age of the place. I would say that just a few updates ( like a new coffee pot) could make this place more charming . We did enjoy our stay overall.

Great location, but needs maintaining

We rented the cabin in late July hoping for some quality lake time. While the location is great - on a small lake, just streets away from Lake Michigan - the cabin itself is in need of some TLC. We knew from the photos and previous reviews to expect rustic, however what we found was a large amount of bugs inside as a result of several broken or poorly installed screens and multiple leaks on rainy days (furnace and sun porch). We made the best of it during our stay, but would not return here.

Great location and sunsets, gross lake bottom

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It is nothing fancy, in fact everything is very dated but that's typical for the area. We didn't really spend too much time inside so it didn't bother us. Pros: There are kayaks, a row boat, canoe and paddleboards available to explore the lake. There is a fun sand dune and an outlet to lake Michigan directly across the lake from the cabin, maybe 10-15 min with an easy kayak ride. My kids LOVED running up and down the sand dune. The water is very close to the house, a comfortable temperature in July, and sunsets are beautiful! Cons: When we checked in we found cobwebs and dust in the counters. I didn't like that I had to clean when I first arrived. A major disappointment was the abundance of plants and weeds on the bottom of lake from the shoreline all the way past the dock. It covered nearly all of the lake bottom on the property and was very squishy when stepped on. I had inquired about water depth for the safety of my 4 and 6 year-old children (shallow like I hoped for) and I was expecting a sandy bottom since the owner knew my children would be playing there. If I knew there would be plants all across bottom of lake I would not have rented. But if you don't have the concern I'd still recommend the property.

First Time in Michigan

We have four kids age 6-16 and everyone really enjoyed this vacation! Kids learned how to kayak and paddle board in no time and loved spending time on the water. We loved being able to kayak over to Lake Michigan. We drove to Mackinac Island one day and went to Baldy Dunes another day. The rest of the time we spent at the cabin fishing, kayaking, and enjoying s’mores on the fire. It was the perfect vacation! Can’t wait to come back!

Fabulous Location!

We loved staying on Lower Herring Lake! It was so fun to paddle across the lake, through the inlet to the shores of Lake Michigan. So beautiful. We also loved how close the cabin is to Frankfort, making grocery shopping easy. The cabin was well equipped with paddle boards, kayaks, and a canoe. Really appreciated the dishwasher and laundry set-up. The wifi was good, and the TV set-up was good too, we were able to watch the Olympics easily. We would stay here again for sure.

Beautiful

Beautiful views, sunsets, and sunrises. Hike at Empire bluffs was fun. I always enjoy Frankfort shopping. The lake was warm so even in June in MI we were able to swim. Hope to come back soon.

Nice cabin for the perfect getaway!

We enjoyed our time at the cabin. The area is just beautiful! I would absolutely recommend this place! The screened in porch was a great place to paint rocks, play cards and relax and do laundry! Fall weekend getaway

My family and I stayed over the weekend. It was fall time and the scenery was beautiful. Even though our weekend was cloudy, rainy, and cool, the kids really enjoyed their time there. Mr. Turner was very easy to get a hold of and responded to my messages very quickly. One thing I would have to comment on, was that someone had put dirty plates with dried food back into the cabinet. I had to re wash all of those plates by hand (a good four or five of them) before we could eat. Also the screen door wouldn’t latch and our first night, there was a thunderstorm and the door kept banging around with the wind which scared my kids a little lol. Regardless we would still stay again. Probably in the summer though so the kids can enjoy the lake water and canoe and kayaks. Thanks for allowing us to stay!
