The house is a lot bigger than I expected. It's cozy and fun with a group. The location is unbeatable. It's quite and just 5 mins from Mt Rainier NP. Matt and crew were awesome and super helpful. They were responsive and jumped in quickly when needed.
Perfect location, if you're heading to the State Park. Literally down the street. No grocery stores, but there is a small general store, so make sure you bring your food and such. Bring coffee filters. LolThe decor is a miss mash of things, which we don't mind at all. Kitchen well stocked. Plenty of towels and blankets. Pots & Pans are well used. We only slept in the master but the bed was comfy. Place was very clean. Neighborhood is quiet and private Yard is fenced for fido. Lots of games and things to do for a family or group.Owners are responsive, helpful and very kind. GPS will take you to the next street over and it will get confusing! So when inputting the address, DO NOT INCLUDE "CT". trust me on this. I would recommend to anyone who wants a comfortable, home environment. Super great location of you need a base for exploring Mt. Rainier State Park.
Very clean and comfortable home. Directions were confusing." Using Google maps, we didn't find home, finally opened "Waze" in my phone and went directly to home.
Good location to mt rainier, bedrooms small but bedsizes queens that are preferred, nice to have cupboards labeled so easiy to find, need 12 oz glasses, plenty of drinking water
A friend and I really enjoyed our stay before heading to Mount Rainier. The beds were super comfortable, and this would be a great place to stay for families planning to explore the park. The home was located right by the Nisqually entrance. Communication with the host was great, and overall wonderful experience.
This house was set up so perfectly! You could stay home for your entire trip and be completely comfortable and entertained! The hosts thought of absolutely everything from karaoke to board games. The hosts were friendly and communicative and a dream to work with. Highly recommend!
Upon arrival, the yard appears that there are plans for further home improvement projects as it is a bit cluttered. The inside also seemed to be a state of somewhat incomplete renovation. The furnishings inside the home are eclectic. There is a lot of gadgetry that is powered by a great deal of extension cords that are twisted around screws and taped to walls and ceilings. An attempt was made to take a hinged door and change it into a barn door, leaving the opening to the master bathroom and the contents and or people therein rather exposed. In the laundry room is a dog door that is large enough for an adult to crawl through that is always open. There is a lock on the laundry room door, but it is on the same side as the dog door. There is no way to secure the home. Bottom line - This home provided a place to stay that was very convenient to Mt. Rainier National Park. It offered 3 bedrooms, each with a full-sized bed. The home could comfortably hold 6 people. (There is a sliding couch bed, but it will not stay together and there was no clean bedding.) The appliances were very nice and in good working order. We were there two nights and even with the issues I mentioned earlier, we were comfortable enough. The price was reasonable, and checkout expectations were very easy.
Lots of smart devices (speakers, thermostat, TVs etc). Several windows were unlocked when we arrived, which we locked. There is a medium-large dog door in laundry room which does not lock/couldnât be closed from what we could tell. Lots of space, comfortable and clean beds, fun games and very creative extension cord wiring and lighting (a bit scary). Very nice sound system and karaoke set up! We just couldnât figure out how to change the language-instructions would have been helpful. No kitchen linens were available (hand towels, etc) and kitchen sponge was very used (ick). Other than that we were happy, comfortable and enjoyed the clean environment. Very good value for the amount of space and price for being so close to the park.
Several friends and a couple dogs got together to celebrate my birthday and 420. It was an amazing experience, the dogs LOVED the yard, and the house was set up nicely for both bedroom privacy and the communal space openess.
Very roomy and comfortable stay at this cabin/house. There were many bells and whistles include like a karaoke machine and water cooler! Fun led lights at ceiling level made night lights unnecessary. The only thing that threw us off was the Beware of Dog sign, we thought we pulled into someoneâs house instead of a Vrbo!
As a family of seven the Penguin house had plenty of room for our family was in a great location for our visit to Mt Rainier! Mark, communicated with us through out the check in process making it super easy! Highly recommend!
When I review a property, I prioritize convenience, security and comfort. I highly recommend this property as a base for exploring the beautiful Mt. Rainier National Park.
This cabin was perfect for us on our autumn trip. Mark has provided everything that a guest might need, including a well-stocked kitchen and pantry. Once we opened the door, we were set. This is especially important in such a rural area. Additionally, the layout of the cabin is great with bedrooms on opposite ends and living space between, including a game area which was fun. We had a great time, felt at home, and hope to return for future trips.
Communication with owners was very good and the house seemed clean.
The decor was an eclectic mix of art deco, mid-century and rec room. The kitchen and laundry appliances are newer.
Of concern was the electricity - there seems to be a DYI effort to rewire the house and there were electrical cords and extension cords strung around the ceiling in several rooms. A little scary.
The landscaping/hardscaping seemed to be in progress.
We were only there for one night so didnât get to spend much time at the property. Mark was very responsive and let us drop our luggage earlier than check in time. Location was very close to the Paradise entrance. Spacious place with many entertainment options.
Had a great time with my family. We can really feel that the owners put time and effort to make this place a great place to stay. It has almost everything you can ask for. I would definitely visit again.
This sweet place is a perfect getaway! From the pool/ping pong table to karaoke it was a fabulous getaway for our family of 6. Plenty of room for everyone and all the necessities we needed were there! Though we didn't have snow, we made the best out of our time!
Six of us came up to Ashford for 2 days. The place is easy to find and everything about check-in was simple. All the appliances as well as the water (plenty of hot!) were high quality and kind of new. Big televisions and plenty of room. The landscaping was a bit underwhelming, and the house is a little older, but it's right in the forest and a stone's throw from Rainier. We couldn't try out the firepit because it rained, but it's there as well as a gas grill. All in all, for a laid back few days, this is a good place.
The house was perfect for the smaller group we had, but it can fit a lot more people (upto 10). The rooms and bathroom are well kept. Overall happy with the stay.
This location is wonderful if youâre not actually staying in Mt. Rainer National Park. The host was kind and communicative and helpful when we reached out about where we could get propane for the grill. The host has thoughtfully stocked the house with everything you need. However, the cleanliness of this place was questionable - there were a significant amount of crumbs and dust in the kitchen cabinets. While the kitchen had a great amount of utensils and was very functional for cooking, I wasnât able to trust the dishes were clean so I washed them again before use. The listing states. filtration system was installed for the water and that should have taken care of the âyellowâ water noted in other reviews. Unfortunately, there were a few times when the water turned from clear to yellow and that gave me concern that their system may not be functioning as intended. We did not drink the water and I would advise others who stay not to. The house was pretty haphazardly put together. Most of the electrical wiring was clearly not done professionally as it is visible and that concerned me a bit. Overall this is a great budget-friendly stay close to the entrance of the park. But youâre not going to get a âcabin feelâ from this location, which is clear even from the listing. My family and I enjoyed our stay and are grateful this location was available to us, however, I personally would not choose to stay in the future for some of the reasons I noted.
