This is my 2nd stay at this hotel. The first visit was April 2024 to tour LSU. We had a nice stay and earmarked it for future visits. When we returned for move in, August 2025, we choose Indigo (also downtown) simply to try something different. We returned to Origin for Family Weekend, September 2025. Wow..... What a significant disappointment and letdown from April 2024 to September 2025..
The hotel - overall - just doesn't present as clean.... The bathroom in the room was undeniably not clean and it is worn. The toilet literally had a ring in it. The shower door glass had soap scum buildup.(Both hard to photograph) The room also showed signs of overall wear. Rooms lean dark so when you see signs of wear, uncleanliness and then it's dark....it's not ideal.
Front desk staff left no impression.
Bar staff lacked warm hospitality.
Oddly, on FAMILY WEEKEND, the restaurant closed at 7p and the bar at 9p. So, we found ourselves around the block at the Watermark hotel a few rimes for late night eats and drinks. The bar staff at Watermark? HOSPITABLE!!
Friendly, engaging.
I could have brought these concerns to the staff but felt - given a few interactions - that there would be zero concern or empathy. So we just gritted through.
All of Baton Rouge hotels would need to be sold out for us to return to Origin.
