My two riding buddies and I traveled from Washington, D.C., Greensboro, NC, and Fayetteville, NC to spend four days riding through the mountains of southern West Virginia. We used the house as a place to relax after long days of ridingâabout 250 miles per day on average. The home had recently been renovated, so everything felt fresh and new.We enjoyed winding down in the living room each evening, watching movies and sports on the large-screen TV. The host, Holli, was excellent. She stocked the place with light snacks and bottled water, brought us extra hangers for our clothes, and made sure the washing machine was supplied with detergent. One of the biggest selling points for us was the garage. We needed a secure place to keep our motorcycles indoors, and it allowed us to load and unload our gear out of the cold and rain. The house was centrally located for our daily excursions through the mountains to places like New River Gorge, Charleston, and Back of the Dragon in northern Virginia. There were restaurants nearby, but with no Uber service in the area, we had to ride our bikes back out in the evenings. Normally, we like to shower and Uber to a restaurant or bar to relax, talk through the dayâs ride, plan the next one, and chat with locals. Speaking of locals, everyone we met on our bikes was incredibly friendly and offered great suggestions for additional places to ride and eat.Weâd definitely like to returnâthereâs still so much we didnât get the chance to explore.
