Used coffee cups in dining area...no breakfast...owner said that he would compensate for that but there was no one to check us out the next morning with no compensation...shame that an historic inn is falling through the cracks...I definitely would not stay there again...
This is a lovely place in a pleasant setting. Not many activities in the area, and dining options are somewhat limited. We were served a huge breakfast. One problem: the proprietor tended to be unavailable for much of our visit, including when he was needed (such as check-in). If someone had been more available, it would have been a better experience. Also - we were here in the summer. I would not advise coming here in the winter (if they are even open), as the roads are narrow, winding, and a bit hazardous.
This hotel is CLOSED. My fiance and I were headed down to the area for a retirement party and needed a place to stay. As we booked at the last minute (and it was Valentine's Day weekend), most places in the area were booked, but this inn had some rooms available. We booked and when it came time to make our 3-hour drive down, we were met with a paper sign on the door that said the hotel was closed and that we needed to contact the booking agency with any issues. We had no place to stay after making the trip. Perhaps this was an error in not taking the inn off hotels.com, but either way, I will never be using hotels.com again OR booking at this venue.
I arrived to the hotel and found out that the whole place was closed for a wedding and needed to find my self another solution at 6 pm for the night.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE.
This is a charming, well kept country inn. Itâs location on the Battenkil river Provides access to outdoor activities at the same time itâs closeness to Manchester Vt outlet shopping provides rainy day activity.
Sorry to give a poor review but there was no breakfast. The health inspector closed down the kitchen so the credited us $18 but that seemed not proportionate to what was paid for the room. The B&B does have a good tub but the building in general is in poor repair. The owner needs to invest some $$$ to justify the prices charged. The manager was nice enough to let us see the studio; itâs not clear in the website that you really can not see the studio unless you rent it or itâs free. Besides the no food we had tried to call them about 20 times to let them know we were pulling a small camper but no one answered the phone; they did let us park but not knowing if we would have to find a new place to book made the trip there unpleasant . Cell reception in NH and Vt both are bad but this was very frustrating. The manager said they had new phones coming tomorrow...felt like I was talking to my kid that seems to have an excuse for everything that goes wrong. Also, WiFi was aweful maybe 5 min of service in 1.5 hours of trying; finally gave up and listened to a book I had stored on my iPad.
This was a really unique location to stay at. Property was beautiful and Norman Rockwell history is very interesting. Inn keeper was fantastic and very hospitable. Optional breakfast was delicious. Would recommend it to anyone and will definitely be going back there again in the future.
