The yard was very beautiful! We loved the hot tub and having small cozy fires outside by the brook. We loved the seclusion of the location as well while simultaneously being only about 5-10 minutes from town.Definitely take note when they say be conservative with the water, it can be touchy. We noticed after one shower the water stopped working for a while (assuming it was due to the drought in Vermont and being on well water). If you run any of the sinks too long it starts to spit and sputter as well which can be frustrating if you try to do any dishes. This may be just a one time thing due to the conditions in Vermont, it may work perfectly fine otherwise! :)The inside isnât the cleanest, overall it was okay but there are a lot of dead bugs in the windows and some cobwebs in the corners. Not a huge issue by any means but just wanted to let future patrons know if thatâs a dealbreaker. My biggest complaint is that the beds arenât very comfortable, we all woke up pretty stiff most mornings. There also wasnât a coffee machine as advertised in the photos so we bought a temp one for our stay. Overall Iâd say that it was an okay stay, there could be some improvements but it was mostly enjoyable aside from some minor inconveniences.
Property pics were good representation. The yard and stream are beautiful. The house was comfortable. Kitchen was good we cooked all our meals there. Beds comfy. House was clean. Windows/ slider could use a bit more cleaning. The owner was very good at responding even with being in a different time zone due to travel. Lots to do in area - lots of history to learn. Would have given a five but we could not enjoy the porch and yard during day due to yellow jackets and wasps. Around the porch. They did best to deal with the yellow jackets when we notified them but the nest was big (was removed) but they did not leave completely by the time we left. Very quiet and peaceful, except There is big truck traffic occasionally and starting early am going to a quarry.
Upon arrival we noticed it was near anything, far far away from civilization in fact. We were greeted by 2 bears digging through the trash in complete darkness. There were no lights on to make our way to the house except a kitchen light inside and oddly the heat on full blast. This place turned out to be a flip reno farm house that hadnât been cleaned in some time given there were spider webs in several rooms with a couple weeks to months of bugs caught in the web. We tried to communicate this to the owners and there was no communication after the initial mention of the heat. We decided not to stay due to the unclean and unsafe conditions and drive the 6 hours home in the middle of the night.
The property is great! The creek and yard were perfect for my kids. The house was ok but a few things that need attention. The back sliding door doesnât lock and is kept shut by a strip of wood at the bottom. I was alone with my kids so not having good locks bothered me. I also wasnât aware that the water supply was limited because itâs on a well. Todd replied very quickly to any questions I had.
In town for a long weekend and loved the location. The owner was prompt and very helpful as we made a mistake in booking.
FYI, The pictures are great but itâs a bit more rustic than they make it seem. Still, it was great to sit outside and hear the brooks flowing. Very quiet street! Housecleaning was a bit lacking though as there were some huge cobwebs in the corners. That was fine for us as we spend our time in a barn anyway.
Enjoyed being together in the woods. The cabin felt unclean and worn out. It would have been nice to be able to sit outside by the fire pit and stream but there wasn't any seating.
Many issues throughout whole property. Dirty, rub down, and not cleaned well, if at all (food smears on cupboards/walls). Undisclosed security cameras, cloudy water in hot tub, hot tub plugged into extension cord laying on ground right where you get in and out of tub, pieces of broken chlorine tabs laying all around deck, clothes dryer literally hanging off the wall by one remaining screw, issues with well, tore up furniture, and (what appears to be) black mold in utility closet. Owner dismissed issues, was rude, insulted me, and then called me a liar. This property is currently under review by VRBO and the Vermont health department. Beware!! It was so bad we had to leave and owner was trying to get us to cancel the rest of our reservation so he could rent it out ASAP without addressing issues. Owner is out of state and told us he didn't have a maintenance person in the area. Don't let this dump ruin your vacation!
This is a perfect house just to get away from it all , at the end of the dirt road sitting on the back porch watching the stream go by, it doesnât get much more relaxing than this just to get away from me lol
Overall it was okay. There were spots that were in disrepair. Two of the 3 overhead fans weren't working; the footrest on one side of the sofa was broken, the kitchen was the biggest disappointed because I wanted to try some new recipes but all of the kitchen equipment was as old as I am. There wasn't much there. It is not heathy to use very scratched non stick surfaces
The hot tub was great and we used it several times. The grill was filthy and there wasn't even charcoal or lighter fluid. I left what we didn't use as my grill is propane.
We enjoyed our stay on this beautiful property. It is a perfect location to go unplugged and enjoy the sound of the river. Todd quickly responded to any questions we had.
The porch with hot tub overlooking the brook was exactly what made this stay a joy. And the quiet location at the end of the road. The house was adequate and the kitchen less so. Bare essentials. Not enough dishes to fill up the dishwasher or microwaveable casserole dishes or bowls to heat meals. We were happy to conserve water, but were constantly washing dishes.
The cabin was clean and quiet and suited our needs for the weekend. The hot tub was enjoyable, although I would recommend that the owners purchase stairs to make exit and entry a bit easier.
We spent an amazing time at Todd's house. The surrounding is beautiful, we had nice walk in the forest and by the river. We had some snow during our weekend but the road was clear right away. And of course the kids loved the hot tub! Todd answered very quickly to my emails, great communication. I highly recommend this house.
Chlorine was a bit stong in hot tub and there should be a step to get in hot tub easier. Other than that everything else was great. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again. We enjoyed are stay!
