Property is situated in the grounds of Spital House and it very quiet. Cottage is very spacious and was very clean and is well stocked with essential equipment. Liked the small welcome pack also the pint of milk in the fridge. The stables are directly behind the property and the horses where in the field every day. Found it difficult to find as directions from the post code take you to Paxton so better to set google maps for Spital House this takes you almost to the front door of the cottage. Waze will bring you to the driveway of the estate but you might drive past before you realise you have arrived. The cottage is well situated for visiting a lot of historical sites and Paxton is within a 30 min walk. Would love to stay again someday soon
Recently had a short break at Stable cottage. Itâs located in the grounds of a country estate and is very peaceful but only a short drive from Berwick for restaurants shopping etc and within easy reach of several good supermarkets. A car is definitely needed to stay here. The cottage was clean, spacious and well equipped and Liz left a lovely welcome pack along with milk, coffee, teabags etc. itâs a good base for exploring the Scottish Borders and other areas like Bamburgh, Alnwick, Holy Island etc. we had a really good stay and hope to return soon.
The property itself was incredibly quiet and on one side of a cobbled stable area. Every morning and evening, the owner's three elderly horses were led to and from the nearby field and we could often see the horse looking over his stable door from our bedroom window - the pony and Shetland pony weren't tall enough to look over! We saw several deer and hares near the cottage on the grounds.
The cottage is in the grounds of Spital House; it was initially hard to find from the directions and maps given, but if you put 'Spital House' in Google Maps, that will lead you straight there (not 'Spital Estate').
Liz left us a lovely welcome basket of goodies and some milk. She also came round to say hello once we had settled in.
The cottage is perfect for two people. The kitchen is well stocked, including coffee pods and tea bags, and is bright and very clean.
The bathroom is small but perfectly fine and stocked with high quality hand wash and shower wash.
The lounge is a good size with two comfortable sofas and a large TV, and the bedroom is also large with plenty of cupboard space. Although the mattress wasn't the most comfortable we've slept on, we slept very well.
This is a fantastic base for exploring
the local area. It is about 5 miles from the A1 and
The cottage is spacious, clean very nicely furnished and has a well equipped kitchen. It was warm, comfortable and very peaceful. Liz, the owner, is pleasant and helpful. A welcome basket of goodies was left for me, along with milk in the fridge - very thoughtful. It was one of the nicest holiday rentals that I've stayed in.I would have loved to stay longer and would certainly think about going back there.
Lovely clean and spacious property (though bathroom was quite small). Everything as described, very clean and tidy, good location to explore. Thank you
We had a fabulous holiday. The cottage has everything you need (and more!!). Lovely location and great for exploring. The welcome pack is such a thoughtful touch too.
Perfect space for our diving trip to St. Abbs. The outdoor space was perfect for rinsing and drying our kit. Fully equipped kitchen was perfect for cooking. Very quiet and very safe. Would definitely return.
Liz the owner welcomed us as we arrived she is lovely, the cottage is very well equipped and the location is so lovely, near to Berwick and surrounding area found it very easily, would recommend it to all.
