This was a last minute before school starts trip. Our 7 year old's jaw dropped when he saw the house and back yard. Our jaws dropped too. The landscaping is beautiful. Good sized deck with a fire pit and a second firepit in the yard. I've made a list of Pros and Cons. The Cons are really only informational and would not stop us from renting again.
Pros:
Lots of space for a family of 4. If there were more people in our group you wouldn't care.
Comfortable beds
AC Window Units work great
Nice kitchen with a Gas stove
Garage access for 2 cars
Whole house generator for power outages
Cons:
-NO Pantry Staples beyond salt and pepper
-Only Keurig Coffee machine (we don't use Keurig's)
-No AC in Living room/Kitchen area but will cool down the Livingroom/kitchen if doors are left open and fans in the doorways. Inconvenient but not a deal breaker for next time.
-Lighting in Kitchen gets hot. Maybe halogen?
-Firepit in the yard is very buggy. I would use it in the cooler months only. The one on the deck is high enough up that the bugs kind of stay away.
-There's no "what to do while your here" book or anything. No suggestions for restaurants, shopping, hiking, swimming...nothing.
All in all this is a lovely place to stay, even it's for just a couple nights. Any longer than that I would plan on bringing ready made meals or ALL ingredients needed. Everything is in Manchester however, including grocery stores and outlets.
OH...and check out Jungle Experience Zoo in Granville, NY about 55 minutes away! You can pet a lot of the animals and feed just about everything. They also have one on one sessions you can purchase, including holding and playing with baby otters! I would also recommend going when they first open as the animals are more hungry. It's small but the animals are very well cared for and the staff is super nice. We stayed about an hour and a half a 7 year old and 2yr old and that was plenty.
