Very comfy beds, kitchen well equipped, good location with 2 large frangipannis for privacy from street which is the main Barrier highway so is a bit noisy. We still enjoyed having morning coffee on the sunny front verandah.
This was the perfect cottage two friends, our own comfortable rooms and well set up with everything for a weeks stay. Very good location and easy access, plus well priced. Thank you to the hosts.
Advertised Amenities included outdoor BBQ so we brought food for that. There was no bbq. Tried to call host, had to leave a message, never got a response.
Road trains rumbling past front door all night meant poor sleep as did the old and tired bed with pinging Springs in front room.
Two of the tea towels were black with grease & filthy,. Accommodation for four people, but only seating for three in lounge room.
Place was poorly maintained outside - looked like a derelict place with large weeds growing in driveway.
Almost ran out of toilet paper.
Automatic roller door for carport worked very intermittently - couldn't close it all weekendl. almost impossible to get 4wd ute into& out of carport. Had to park on street in the end.
Way too expensive for what it is, would not stay again
Good location, easy access. Passing traffic at night could be an issue for some, but after all the property is situated next to a pretty major highway. On the plus side it was clean, tidy and comfortable. Good for a short stay and for exploring what Broken Hill has to offer.
Lolaâs Cottage was perfect for our needs. It was cute, clean and comfortable. We had our small dog with us and the securely fenced backyard was a godsend. The cottage is a short distance to the middle of town and while it is on a busy road, at night the volume of traffic is much reduced and it is quiet. The kitchen was well equipped and worked as it should. The shower was good and the beds comfortable. We had a very enjoyable stay.
It was a great weekend and Lolaâs Cottage was lovely. The decor was smart. The beds were very comfortable, which is important and the heating, which was needed at night worked really well.
Meant to leave a note but forgot sorry, about a couple of little things that didnât really affect us but you would want to know about ..none of us could connect to the internet, the clock on the wall needs new batteries and the gas fire lighter for the stove needs replacing.
Experience whilst staying at Lola's Cottage Broken Hill
The house was ideal for our stay to attend a soccer championships near by. House was clean and tidy, but unfortunately the carport was a little difficult to get into.
Clean accommodation ,great beds and towels. Decor is lovely and kitchen equipped with up to date appliances. Parking maybe tricky for large 4wheel drives but seems to be safe area. Traffic noise at night. Would outdoor shutters help ? Thanks Janine
Easy check in.
Great communication from Janine.
Location within easy walk to main town & galleries.
As the cottage is situated on busy highwayâŠthe truck noise during the night was a little disturbing.
The property has been partly renovated, the lounge and bed we used is very comfortable. Only minutes drive into the main part of town, there are many places to eat, drink, shop within walking distance if needed. Walking into the main part of town is flat and would be easy and pleasant. Whilst it is on a main road we didn't find that an issue, with the only noise coming from inconsiderate local traffic i.e noisy utes and bikes rather than trucks, so they would have been an issue in the side streets they came out of as well.
This cottage was many times better than a motel room for roughly the same price, but we got two bedrooms, one at the back if you really wanted more quiet, a lounge room, dining, full kitchen, and most conveniently a laundry. Good wifi and more TV channels than you'll ever need. The guest folder was excellent, and there were two mobile numbers for the managers/ owners if required which is thoughtful and supportive.
The shower and sink have quite minor leaks, and the shower extraction fan isn't effective, which would bother me if I owned it, but as a visitor that sort of damage isn't my problem, and were easy enough to live with.
There is a new gas heater but it is unflued, so the smell of burnt gas builds up, along with the knowledge that carbon monoxide is building up along with other toxins, so we used it sparingly. You are supposed to leave a window open with these heaters which does my head in. Not really an issue outside of winter of course :)
I'd like to visit Broken Hill again, and I'd be very happy to stay in this property again.
